DaBaby Crowns Himself & Lil Wayne The ‘Best Rappers Alive’

DaBaby has never been one to be shy about boasting his stockpile of plaques, Billboard chart placements and Grammy Award nominations throughout his short career. The Charlotte native hit the studio over the weekend with Lil Wayne and deemed himself and Weezy to be the best rappers in the game.

“Best rappers alive,” he captioned the post featuring photos from Wayne’s Miami luxe studio.

The New Orleans-bred legend joined Baby on a track for the first time in 2020 when the duo rapped alongside each other to help power Jack Harlow’s “WHATS POPPIN” remix, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

For the most part, Wayne has been one to embrace younger artists throughout his career and be a mentor type of figure in rap. In a recent interview, Wayne reflected on his impact on the next generation of rappers.

“Before I stepped into it, they had music everyone looked a certain way and everyone did a certain thing,” Wayne stated with a smirk. “Look at me, now look at music. They all look like me. I love it.”

He continued, “None of them trying to be like me. They’re gonna get some tattoos in they face, a grill, they might put Lil on the front of their names or Baby after it, but they don’t sound nothing like me, they haven’t been through what I’ve been through or they’re not from where I’m from.”

DaBaby has also been someone to shine a light on other artists coming out of North Carolina or on his Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment roster. In December, Baby cosigned emerging rapper Morray by posting an Instagram Story bumping his fellow Carolina native’s infectious “Quicksand” tune.

    1. Any time I hear DaBaby’s verse played on that bs Levitated track I wanna smack the fuck out of this clown. Overrated ass mf

    2. Y’all got amnesia
Wayne is not making hits like when he first went “independent” also DaBaby next Gen type selling “Quality” hits.Wayne shall have to pass the Torch is all .. Stop Hating Kids ?

    3. Props to Wayne for being in the game so long. Now Da Baby like all these new rappers who are so quick to deem themselves the GOAT. But i guess you have to think that of yourself as a confidence booster in anything you do. Neither of them the GOAT to me but I guess keep telling yourself that if it helps you sleep at night.

    4. Neither are in top 100. In words of Big L

There are too many MC’s who are overrated
You ask me, they wasn’t even supposed to make it.
In the rap biz, they don’t know what rap is
So give it up, become a actor or a actress
Or a producer, ’cause you fail to use the
Mic right, so take flight ‘fore I bruise ya
For sayin’ those bull crap wack raps on wax
You need to get smacked, sit back and rip that contract
Aiyo, I’m serious, Big L ain’t playin’ games
I should get foul and buck wild and start sayin’ names
But deep down inside you know who you are
Your rhymes are not up to par, you fake superstar
And that really gets on my nerve
When a rapper gets the credit that he don’t deserve
Goin’ platinum and don’t have no soul
Some rappers are mad nice and don’t even go gold
I don’t like the way it’s goin’ down
Because it should be the other way around

    5. GTFO with this lame crap S M H. Best Alive Scarface Nas Snoop Dre to name a few. These 2 chumps are not even top 1000 all time rappers.

    6. Hey everyone who is calling those two clowns that’s disrespectful as fuck to u know clowns. What did the Juggalos ever do to u that makes it so all the mumbling dumbasses are for some reason one of them lol. Also I would say tech n9ne and Eminem or maybe ice cube or eshan or any of the actual real rappers that if u like good music u can find and would actually be considered some of the best

    7. Seeing these day everybody is the best rapper alive let me set it off Me and My Bitch is the best rapper alive

    8. Not even top 1000 is right. If you’re looking for club music there you go, music that brainwashes and misleads the youth and has fallen victim to the tyrants running the music industry, sheep’s not goats! Sadistik, Joel Ortiz, King Crooked, Locksmith, Nas, Biggie, Tupac, Andre, Big Boi, Eminem without the shitty production, Method Man, Rakim, Big Al, Black Thought, Aesop Rock, Kendrick once again the old Kendrick, Joey Badass, Nyck Caution, if I had all day I could fill up this chat room but you all get the jist! Cmon people this is music with zero substance

    9. Its crazy, everyone’s arguing about which 2 are the best rappers alive with out taking into account that everyone has different tastes in music. Some people like club bumpers like lil jon, ludacris, Flo-rida, dj khaled, etc. Some people like lyrical content, eminem, tupac, biggie, nas, etc.

The argument on which rappers are better would take hours to explain the difference in styles.

    10. Hahahhah wtf

Are they for real? They are not even close to what Eminem can do on the mic man. Anyone who loves genuine hip hop and lyricism knows this. This is just BS.

    11. Wayne helped ruin hip hop. Da Baby hasn’t shown versatility or longevity to be considered great yet. Neither are nowhere near the top. Rakim is the greatest MC of all time.

      1. It’s all opinion bub . You think rakim and I think it’s a trend to say rakim pac and biggie. I think there’s a lot better rappers then all three. But this is all opinion

    12. Real hip hop heads know Rakim, Big daddy kane, Kool g rap, Krs one, Public enemy are the goats in hip hop. Certainly not the rappers mentioned in this article.

      1. That’s all opinion personally I think benzino and snoop dog are the goats simply because they think they’re better and tell everyone they’re better so they are

    13. It’s all opinion. Theres not facts in a discussion about the best rapper alive. It’s whoever you like. So people are allowed they’re opinion .

      1. Exactly! Thank you for saying that. I’ve been into hip hop since I was a kid (I’m 49 btw) & I have a hard time narrowing down who I consider the best to ever do it into a list of 10 so a list of 2 is pointless but 5 real quick (alive) Rakim,Kendrick,Conway,Method Man & Nas….but there’s still names I could put up…..

    14. Please, come on cuz there ain’t no new rappers in the past couple DECADES that can hold a candle to these greats. I mean these are the motherfuckers that started it ALL. My money says these guys in some way influenced every single artist out there today. Here they are, the original greats: Tupac, Biggy, KRS-One, WuTang, Public Enemy, Run D.M.C, Nas, Eminem, Jay-Z, Ice Cube, Ice-T, Easy-E (N.W.A), Beastie Boys, Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest, Snoop Dogg, OutKast, Eric B & Rakim, DMX, REDMAN, LL Cool J, Diddy, Method Man, Cypress Hill, umm… Salt-N-Peppa, etc etc. I know i missed some bu that’s just quick off the top of my head. These guys were the most original and influencial hip-hop artists of all time. And even just for the fact that they were the OG’s that started the whole fuckin thing….they’re gonna be hard as shit to top. Oh shit my bad, it said best rappers ALIVE. Some gotta go I guess… Whatever, ya’ll get the point!

      1. Agree with everything you said except Diddy. Influential? Yes. Great rapper? Um no. Great? He did discover Biggie but he´s also responsible for events that led to the deaths of Tupac and Biggie. And then there’s the whole jiggy era.

      2. Too short,Snoop,Dre,cube and eninem. None can touch these guys alive right now. You go all time alive or dead you add tupac,Biggie,Easy and run dmc.

    15. They have music coming out, they know what they’re doing and emo stans will get emotional about them saying it. They wanted attention, you’ve given it to these clowns, Checkmate.

    16. Freddie Gibbs is currently rapping circles around everyone in the more “popular” rapper bracket except Benny and Conway.

There is a laundry list of less popular rappers making better music than Wayne and Da Baby currently.

    17. Conway the Machine, Benny the Butcher, Westside Gunn, Freddie Gibbs, Dave East, Curren$y, Nas, Smoke DZA, Big Krit, Young Dro, Big Boi, Andre 3000, Bun B, Jay Z, and Jadakiss
