Cordae has confronted Bootleg Kev after not making the cut on either of the podcast host’s Best Rappers or Best Hip Hop Albums of 2022 lists.

The Maryland native sat down for an interview with Kev and wanted an explanation as to why he didn’t make either of the lists after dropping his sophomore album From a Birds Eye View and delivering a handful of guest verses.

“I didn’t think you had [a Top 10],” Kev answered candidly. “I mean, it was a good year last year. I didn’t think you had a Top 10 album last year. I think you had about a Top 20.”

Cordae replied: “Okay, I respect it.”

Bootleg Kev further explained his reasoning for leaving him off by saying: “And on the rapping shit, I just think the rapping list was tough, man. There was a lot of rapping.”

Cordae clarified that he wasn’t in his feelings over the snub and has love for his rap peers.

Bootleg Kev’s Best Rappers of 2022 list was topped by Pusha T, followed by 38 Spesh, J.I.D, Kendrick Lamar, Freddie Gibbs, Drake, Symba, Conway The Machine, Future and LaRussell.

His Best Hip Hop Albums list included Gibbs’ $oul $old $eparately, Pusha’s It’s Almost Dry, J.I.D’s The Forever Story and Kendrick’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, among others.

Despite its commercial success and star-supporting cast, the DMV native later admitted that he doesn’t think it was better than his 2019 debut The Lost Boy.
