Brooklyn native and Boot Camp Clik founding member Buckshot was in a very unique position during the 90s. He, Black Moon and Smif-N-Wessun were just about the only East Coasters who Tupac Shakur liked at the time.
Recently sitting down with Vlad TV, Buckshot recalled Tupac defending him against Suge Knight.
“Suge has something going on in Vegas and everybody from Death Row had to be there,” he remembered. “Snoop and everybody had already loaded the plane but Tupac hadn’t loaded the plane yet and Tupac had all of us with him so Suge told Tupac he has to board the plane, we have to go… And Tupac said, ‘I’m not boarding the plane unless all my peoples board with me, which was us. And Suge was like, ‘You’re kidding me. You’ve got to board this plane and have them dudes get on another flight and get down there however they going to get down there… And Pac was like if I don’t go none of us go. I’m hearing this and I’m like, ‘No Pac just go!'”
He continued by describing the night of that incident and how Tupac was personally distraught. Buckshot says he was unable to record in concern for his friend.

“He tore up the plane tickets and he was mad as a motherfucker,” he said. “I put my head down because I knew it was going to be a bad night. We went straight to the studio and we recorded this song called, “Never Call You Bitch Again” and I kept trying to record my verses and I kept looking at Pac through the glass window and he was mad, arguing and he looked discomforted, just fucked up. I dropped my headphones and said, ‘I can’t record man. I’m sorry man. This ain’t the night. Seeing you and this whole [situation]. I’m trying but I can’t. I can’t act like none of this shit is affecting me.’ And that was probably one of the illest nights ’cause I’ve never did that before. Never had somebody affect me so bad I couldn’t record.”
