Bone Thugs-n-Harmony May Be Next Up For Ice Cube Biopic Treatment

While criss-crossing the country on the Puff Puff Pass Tour Part 2 with Snoop Dogg, Cleveland Hip Hop legends Bone Thugs-n-Harmony—Bizzy Bone, Krayzie Bone, Flesh N Bone, Layzie Bone and Wish Bone—presumably had ample time between stops to talk about the future. A topic that consistently popped up was the very real possibility of a Bone Thugs biopic with West Coast rap pioneer Ice Cube, or as they affectionately call him, “Uncle Cube.” After all, the Bone Thugs story is already movie-worthy. Bizzy Bone’s kidnapping, Flesh’s 10-year prison sentence, Krayzie’s health issues, breakups, makeups, Grammy Awards, and Eazy E’s untimely death is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s a tale simply waiting to be told.

“Flesh did 10 years,” Krayzie tells DX. “It was really hard, especially when you know what you were taken away from. Flesh knows his actions—he had to man-up for the way he was acting. He was wilin’ out in the worst way imaginable. It supposed to be a movie already.”

Toward the end of the N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton, there’s a scene Krayzie believes would be the perfect pick up point, and partnering up with Cube could make that idea a reality.

The way they set it up by bringing the cassette tape in the hospital room with Eazy—that’s where we want to pick the movie up,” he says. “I had some conversations with Ice Cube when we did How The West Was Won concert a few months ago. I told him I wanted to sit down and if he wanted to hear our story, I guaranteed he would think it was interesting. He was like, ‘Hell yeah, let me know when you want to sit down.’

“We would have so many elements,” he continued. “We would have N.W.A elements. We would have 2Pac and Biggie, and Big Pun. People don’t even know Fat Joe was a big part of our career. He was the first artist we clicked with. The whole Terror Squad took us in as family. We knew Big Pun before he was Big Pun. His first debut was on Flesh-N-Bone album. People don’t even know that.”

Bizzy is on board as well and considering he has one of the most challenging upbringings out of the bunch, his co-sign of the film is integral to it actually coming to fruition.

“[The movie idea]’s been floating around,” Bizzy adds. “We are totally focused on our future. [The biopic] is totally something that needs to be discussed and examined. That’s our Uncle Cube right there. That’s the first guy we’re going to go to. What’s crazy about this whole thing—where that movie was shot in that studio, where they made ‘Fuck The Police’—we got harassed by the police over there. We made ‘Thuggish Ruggish Bone’ in that studio. We made a lot of our songs there. It’s historic. I think the movie is still being made and that’s where we are right now. We gotta talk to Uncle Cube.”

Until that happens, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony is focused on making new music (including a Krayzie and Bizzy duet album) and continuing to cultivate the culture it helped build.

    1. This would be a dream scenario just like straight out of compton. Bone’s story is way more interesting imo they been through
a lot from the time they were kids and through out their careers. They self destruct as a group and put themselves right back together

    2. Make it happen! This movie and the proper shine for these LEGENDS is well overdue. No matter wtf anyone has to say about this style coming from project blowed/freestyle fellowship first, BONE perfected it and made a life out of it (while Myka N9ne is busy rocking shows for ten people and trying to steal the promoter’s weed). This movie needs to get made.

      1. I’ve heard people say that Bone got their style from freestyle fellowship or they started copying their style after they came to cali, but if you listen to bone thugs demo’s including faces of death of couple other songs they did before faces of death they used that style and that was way before they went to Cali, Their are even interviews from ex mo thug members that weren’t even on the best terms with bone that claim that Btnh had been doing that style since junior high, were they would sing temptation hooks and mixing with LL or run dmc rhymes and the speed came from them competing with each other about who can rap the fastest.

        1. Yeah, totally. I personally don’t think they bit F.F.’s style at all. It’s not unthinkable that two innovating groups, worlds apart would both come up with a double time delivery style. For a while everyone was trying to spit fast, it’s only to be expected that more than one person or group would start to sound similar. Either way, Bone does it better and more cleanly and have made a killing with it. So anyone can hate, but I doubt the Bone dudes are trippin on it.

    3. Greatest Rap group ever it’s only right they get the movie treatment and hopefully on the scale of that SOC level.

    4. Universal and New Line Cinema will get behind this especially after the success of Straight Out of Compton, all Ice Cube has to do is find decent writers, director, he could direct it himself. Bone thugs movie would be major hip hop fans would support

      1. That’s true and also their is a different dynamic, the movie would be able to have a great ending unlike Big and Pac who get killed, and even Straight out of Compton were E dies. Universal should put some money on this movie it would do 100 mill

      1. Don’t forget Triple Six Mafia and also the lil stint of beef Bone Thugs had with them. That was something special

        1. Yeah but that beef was made up by the streets. What’s even more historical is the beefs that Ride or Die and That Dogg Pound Gangstas had against BTNH.

    5. So is this happening??? Shit I didn’t even read it LOL I don’t want to be let down because I really want to see this. We already got the Pac movie ready a Bone Thugs N Harmony movie would be some mega shit for Hiphop and real rap fans, golden era of rap, guys that really came from struggling to putting themselves in the position to live off their music for the rest of their lives.

    6. Who would be the main focus I would say Krayzie and Bizzy. If they tell it Raw Flesh is going to look like a savage with all that he has done, pistol whipping people, explosives found on him when he was arrested AK hidden in a baby’s crib, beating up producers for cutting his verses off group songs because he wasn’t legally sign to Ruthless Records.

      1. Can’t forget about Krayzie bone shooting Big Wish in the leg or Bizzy getting in a bar fight trying to fight like 5 guys wish showing up with people to clear the bar bizzy not knowing wish is even in there and wish taps bizzy on the shoulder bizzy turns right around and swings hitting wish in the face not knowing it was him. It’s too many storylines for this.

    7. The would be the greatest movie! I miss Bone n thugs so much. This young people need to see and know what real rap music about.

    8. I feel like this movie is going to get a lot of support especially after the NWA movie and if Pac movie does numbers which it’s no reason it shouldn’t. More than one major studio will be interested in doing a Bone movie.

    9. I remember all the topics about what rappers or rap group Bio pic would you like to see next after Nwa, I was a group of friends house and we were talking about this, funny we all agreed on Tupac and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

    10. Interesting
I took “Hip Hop and Religion” at Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne in 2007. It was pretty great.

    11. Making biopics about living peaople is not a good idea. They’ll be fake and misleading like the NWA movie. However I’d be glad with a new Bizzy album with decent producers (and not the usual wack staff) or a BTNH album with SpaceGhostPurrp on the beats to bring back the hightimes.

      1. They’re fake when their dead too, might as well make it while they are alive so at least they can enjoy, get the glory and actually explain the misleading scenes. I don’t think spaceghostpurp fits Bone thugs style especially now, they need soulful beats and production not stoner beats. Krayzie and Bizzy just finished up their album it is being mixed, their is production on there from Scott Storch. I have heard small snippets of a couple songs on Bizzy IG page and it sounds refreshing.

    12. Who would be the director though?? Hughes Bros, I know everybody is going to want they guy that did SOC to do it but I think they should go and a different direction, Benny Boom is out there too, It needs to be someone that has a connection to Hip Hop and understands their story. Hype Williams?? whatever happen to him anyway??

      1. If Ice Cube is involved he may direct it him self he hasn’t direct anything since Players Club, I can see him Directing this.

    13. How would the movie end though? Maybe ends with flesh getting out of jail? They probably won’t do it until someone dies

      1. I would say it should end with whatever major concert they’ll do this year or next they always do some Major festival or something like that or with them in the studio recording their last album bringing up old memories it would be a happy good ending because they survive the streets and then they survived in a entertainment business that usually destroys most people and they are still together as a 5 man unit. I would say play the single to the last album. I keep saying last album because I’m assuming that if the movie goes into production that they will record and have a album ready to go around the time the movie is release.

    14. The day they announce the production, actors, release date for this movie will be another historical day in Rap/Hiphop.

    15. I wanna see this really bad, I do feel like I would rather see it in a 4-5 part series vs a movie, But if they are going to do it big then lets do it Big

    16. Songs that have to be played during this movie
Crossroads, First of the month, Thuggish Ruggish, Dayz of our livez, foe the love, I tried, Thug luv
Notorious thugs, couple songs off E99.

      1. Gotta remember Tomica Eazy’s widow owns copyright to most of those songs I think, but I sure she would be wiling
to do business she did with Cube for straight out of compton. She may not want to see a Bone movie because she would be in it
and her character would not be favorable I’m assuming, her and Btnh never got along she use her power over them for years, and at the end of their time at Ruthless they gain leverage and power they left continued to do their thing, while her career pretty much died along with Ruthless Records.

    17. Bone sign to Ruthless as 4 man group, Flesh never sign he was in jail when they sign to Ruthless. When he did songs with Bone he was paid as a featured artist this is why he was cut from a lot of songs he recorded verses for a lot of songs that his verses was cut
He even had a verse for Notorious Thugs. Eazy was going to add him to the contract as apart of the group but he got sick. Flesh got a solo deal at Def Jam under Russel Simmons, drop a solo album the album went platnium and then Flesh went to Jail.

      1. Bad to say but Jail prob save Flesh N Bone life. He was wilding , shootings, beat downs, drugs, jail slow him down sad that he had to do 8 years but man he is a different guy now I think it made him appreciate things a lot more.

      1. That vending machine was fly asf, I seen kray say a couple years back he was doing something like this, where are the machine at??

      1. No one was checking for Memphis rappers when None was big, except Memphis. Bone outsold and outperformed all of those amateurs tbh.

    18. Even though Uni 5 is my least fav bone album ever it had my favorite bone song of all time on it My life was unreal. Meet me in the sky was great too, that album may have not been classic but those songs were.

      1. East 1999 and solo krayzie bone Thug on da line very underrated album imo the Sade sample was really nice.

    19. I’ve heard rumors that Ice Cube was already discussing this Movie idea with New line Cinema, don’t know how true that is but I’ve heard that before also that Krayzie Bone and Ice Cube are working closely to get it done and get a budget.

    20. Man these boys really made it amazing to see where they come from, from nothing to something
I’m assuming this movie will be inspiring similar to something like Pursuit of happiness. A true from Rags to Riches story

    21. Dang had no clue Bizzy went through all of that man I got a lot more respect for that man. That’s crazy he made it through

      1. There’s some sort of documentary out…his foster mother said by the time he got there at age 7, he had never used a phone or seen the inside of a refrigerator.

        1. I think the documentary Ad is referring to is the Bizzy interview on Oprah Winfrey Network. It’s on YT. And I agree with the very first comment, there could be a movie made on Bizzy’s life alone.

    23. Would be interesting to see who plays who, their would also have to be a character for Eazy E, Jerry Heller, potentially small scene for wally and uncle charles.

    24. What studio is going to pick this up is the question because Bone Thugs has a relationship with Warner Bros and they have a good relationship with Cube who is on good terms with Universal/New line. Warner Bros is not heavily into doing Hip Hop/Rap projects though but after what NWA movie did their are going to be Studios that weren’t interested that would be now.

    25. Ice Cube has brought this up in a Interview when ask who else should have a movie done He said PE and Bone said Btnh story is unique.

    26. ths is something dope..Daz Dillinger from Tha Dogg Pound is busy with DPG4Life movie and Bone are busy with theirs..we must keep in mind that dpg sided with deathrow and bone with ruthless where the also took part in th beef between the two camps. this must be put in th films as it will add info tht ppl dnt knw abt..with pacs film coming out on his bday it will just show ppl what the west was all about. this better b made

      1. 100% Agreed this needs to get done, although I’m not sure they should focus on their beef in the films especially Bone Thugs they have way more to their story, By the time Dpg diss Bthn, Btnh was on a different planet they were selling more records than anybody in rap with the exception of Pac, Bone never really diss them on record, This Beef ended when Bone Thugs showed up to a club in L.A and Dpg and deathrow thought they were going to check Bone because they were in L.A but didn’t realize Bone rolled deep also lol, they were there with Mo thugs and Black Hole from Watts Crips, Those Crips took the mic in that club told them to shut the music off and ask the crowd does anybody in here have a issue with Bone, nobody responding.
