Big Sean Admits He Took Exception To 2 Chainz Claiming King On ‘Mercy’

2 Chainz recently claimed he bodied everyone who appeared on Kanye West’s “Mercy” single, including Big Sean and Pusha T.

But during a recent Zoom appearance on The Rap Pack podcast, Sean told Carl Chery and HipHopDX editor-in-chief Trent Clark he was slightly bugged by Tity Boi’s declaration.

“I immediately called him like, ‘What the fuck you talkin’ about bro?'” Sean admits. “He was like, ‘No, no, I wasn’t talking about you, bro. I was talkin’ about the whole game. Obviously everybody on there was going crazy. I’m like, ‘That’s not how it seemed.’

“He was like, ‘Nah, bro.’ I told him, I was like, ‘Nigga, as far as ‘Mercy’ goes, I was the first one doing my verse on the song. Like, it was just the beat and I freestyled my verse. Like, I did it without trying and Kanye was the one who loved it so much.”

Sean Don went on to say how much praise he got for the verse and took credit for setting the tone on the song “without even trying” — and Chainz didn’t deny it.

“He didn’t have no objections to that,” Sean added. “He knew. I’ve done a lot of songs with 2 Chainz. I was gonna be like, ‘Oh OK, I got you on ‘K.O’ and ‘All Me’ and ‘Big Bank.’ But that’s my brother. We was just really kinda kidding around.”

2 Chainz Thinks He Bodied Kanye West, Pusha T & Big Sean On 'Mercy'

“Mercy” was released in 2012 as the inaugural single for the Cruel Summer compilation. The song peaked at No. 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and hit No. 1 on both the Hot Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. It was officially certified quadruple platinum in 2016.

    1. lol pusha’s verse is 1000x better than both. and he won’t lower himself to arguing about it since he knows the streets will do it for him.

      1. Also literally nobody asked for this comment and it is completely unwarranted. None of us can get the time back that we wasted reading your random comment and may God have Lamborghini mercy in your soul

    2. I got love for 2 Chainz. It’s been a marvel to witness him evolve lyrically as rapper over the last few years. On this occasion, I must say he overestimated himself with that ‘best on Mercy’ statement. It’s great to be ambitious and competitive as an MC but he must just be careful that his mouth won’t curtail his growth. His head appears to be growing a bit too big for shoulders. In the event he gets served by some top tier lyricists, he’ll end up looking like hip-hop’s version on Megamind.

        1. You mighy be right. I just thought he deserves some applause for his hard work and dedication towards improvement.

    3. Big Sean is corny period. There’s only one B.I.G. and he isn’t from Detroit. No disrespect. He’ll never be in that same hall of fame as the greats go. 2 chainz bodied mercy….no one remembers any other verse but his in that joint.
