Anderson .Paak Signs To Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment

Anderson .Paak has signed to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment.

In a short video clip uploaded to .Paak’s Twitter last night (January 30), Dr. Dre announced that the Oxnard, California singer was the newest “Aftermath representative.”

“I want y’all to say ‘what’s up’ to the new Aftermath representative, Anderson .Paak, baby,” Dr. Dre says in the clip. “Welcome to Aftermath.”

Anderson .Paak appeared on six songs on Dr. Dre’s 2015 album, Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre.

The singer released his sophomore album, Malibu, on January 15, 2016. Comprised of 16 tracks, the project features guest appearances from ScHoolboy Q, The Game, Talib Kweli, BJ The Chicago Kid and Rapsody, among others.

Anderson .Paak’s Malibu received a 4 out of 5 rating from HipHopDX. In his review of the album, DX’s Features Editor Andre Grant said: “Malibu is jazzy, but not in the acid jazz way that was K. Dot’s To Pimp A Butterfly. The rhythms are sumptuous and contextual; the songwriting honest and playful. Anderson .Paak and his sunlit septum piercing may be just be gearing up for a breakout 2016.”

    1. Big mistake. Dude has a dope album.. Didn’t need to sign with anybody. Coulda did it all on his own. Now he’s 360’d up for no reason. This ain’t 02 anymore. Labels don’t do anything but give u a lil bread, and recoup it 5x over. No marketing or street teams anymore. They just take and take.

      1. God honest truth buuuuuuut that 360 gets him into icon status with how the promote him across all media. This is my concern, with everything changing at Interscope, was this really a smart move? Agreed dude could’ve done it all on his own, Game stacked chip off that E1 deal and didn’t have to sell as many copies to recoup…

    2. Big mistake ! Welcome to the graveyard ! He just buried his career alongside stat quo bishop lamont marsha ambrosius eve jon connor etc.

      1. He’ll get a release date… he has too much of a back catalog… but only time will tell… wonder what that contract look like doe.

    3. This just cements aftermath as a gay ass pop label. Aside from Eminem, no one is checking out any acts from aftermath. Even dre and Kendrick flopped with their latest albums.

      1. Your statement is full of lies. Aftermath isn’t pop at all and people are checking out the acts signed there, that’s why Anderson Paak signed to them. Also, how did Kendrick and Dre flop with their latest albums since TPAB sold more than 750K units and Compton went gold? SMH think before you type.

      2. What are you talking about? Both got Grammy nods. Kendrick’s has like 11 nods. Both received critical and commercial success. I’m not sure what you mean by flop…

    4. umm good move for recognition but i hope he dont change his style. And i hope him and Knxwledge drop that Album SOOONNNNNNNNNNNN..

    5. Good for Paak. He is a talented artist and deserves this, and Malibu is incredible. People that are hating on this signing must be really bored.

    6. Aftermath has the most classics ever dropped by a record label. Look at their discography. Dre,Eminem, 50 Cent, Game, Kendrick..

    7. Damn Stones Throw Probably Mad As Fuck!!! PB Wolf Shittin’ Bricks Right About Now!!! No Loyalty Over There Who’s Next Dam Funk Gonna Sign With SnoopZilla… MadLib Gonna Sign With LexRecords Lol…

      1. Stones Throw is a stones throw away from obscurity, ain’t nothing happening over there. Artists best jump ship once that contract is a wrap.
