Alicia Keys Deletes Tweet Praising XXXTENTACION Following Backlash

Alicia Keys was feeling the heat after she posted a tweet praising the late XXXTENTACION.

On Friday (January 4), the Grammy Award-winning singer shared a photo of herself and her son sitting at the piano as she performed a cover of X’s song, “What Are You So Afraid Of” off his posthumous Skins album.

“Such a vibe!!!” she wrote. “Big love to the talented @xxxtentacion!! Gone too soon.”

Almost immediately, people started calling her out for supporting an alleged abuser. Subsequently, Keys deleted the tweet.

X was arrested on charges of domestic violence in 2016 but the case was closed following his June 2018 murder.

X’s former girlfriend, Geneva Ayala, accused the slain 20-year-old of abusing her while she was pregnant with his child. As a result, he was charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness tampering. The case was officially closed last July.

Twitter, as always, had something to say about Keys’ tweet, but the reactions were mixed. Some berated Keys for her seemingly contradictory actions, while others condemned the internet for being so toxic.

    Check out the reactions below.

      1. So that automatically makes his music trash? What a world of hypocritical morons we live amongst these days.

        1. yes indeed his music is trash, and gets overpraised cause that fool died, when he was alive he was nothing but a clown

      2. Listen mr. dick sucker aka Facts, if you want to be calling out xxxtentacion and say he’s a woman beater, he is an abuser and shit.
, get your “facts” right and do some research. Yes he may have beat his ex girlfriend the first time and he was put in prison for that, but the second time he was falsely accused of the second allegation ( X even made a song about being falsely accused and put in jail) because Geneva (his other ex) lied about it. But aside from this, what can you say about yourself. You aren’t perfect, you have done some dumb shit in your life. You may not have been in trouble with the law but seriously, you can’t just go at a person like that, regardless of what they did regardless of who they are because everyone makes mistakes and some are sorry about is and some go on and don’t care. X publicly said he had improved a lot and even apologized to every woman he had hurt. He even donated 100 thousand dollars to an anti domestic violence campaign. So if you are gonna call out someone, do it with facts, because you look stupid right now. X did things in the past but he changed into an entirely new person. He started #thehelpinghandchallenge, he met up with fans and gave them advice, he went to orphanages and foster homes and donated money to them. He went from bad to good. Don’t judge a book by its cover, because things can change. People only see him as a bad person from his past, but we need to keep looking forward and see the things he did to make this world better (don’t you dare say he died to make it better, because we needed more people like him) because he changed the world for the better.

        1. His music was garbage and when he was alive he was nothing but a pos, you’re a total idiot, he went on a redemption pr spree trying to fix his image and to avoid jail but not because he was a changed born again do gooder, simply because he didn’t want to go to jail and was trying to curve all the hate cause just like people liked his bs even more people hated the shit out of him, you are as gullible as people come talking about he changed to a completely different person lol, what a fool, same kinda person that believes all the bs coming out of a politicians mouth

    1. Why you people pretend to be the moral police when every last one of you would never want your past to be disclosed publicly cuz you are soft and would be embarrassed to death. Internet is full of judgement but no accountability. Amusing

    2. Props to Alicia Keys! I respect your opinion about xxxtentacion. I do agree “What are you so afraid of” is a beautiful song. It was made with emotion and Jahseh put his heart, energy and love into it. Like 17, it has the potential to change people’s perspective of their lives. Personally, xxxtentacion has helped me before he passed away and made me feel very happy and a little more comfortable with myself. So yeah, don’t mind any of the haters because X came here to spread love and positivity. Please do repost the piano cover, it was amazing. If anyone has anything bad to say of it, they have a screw loose not just because I’m an xxxtentacion fan (I am a huge one by the way) but because he wrote that song to help others through their own struggles. You did the right thing by posting the piano cover. Good luck Alicia Keys, I will be here for future music. #LLJ

    3. Isn’t it about time we stood up the online bullys . Why delete the tweet ? If you feel strongly enough keep the tweet up. Everyone as an opinion on his music. Everyone as their faults xxxtentacion had his big time. But it does not mean you can’t like some of his music. There are a lot of artists out there that have had issues . But some still make good music.

    4. Look, the Twitter SJW PD are out in force again. I wish these celebrities would stop pandering to these online mobs and stop deleting tweets and actually stand by their opinions. It keeps giving these heroes ammunition to go again.

    5. This bitch look ugly as fuck with no make up. I ain’t feeling this whole ebony-queen love-your-self African shit she going through. Her wardrobe looking mad granny and shit.

    6. aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, fuck out of here gevena pregnant ??? this bitch man she did every thing to make x go down but what X said fuck all negativity and falsely accused we will always be with you X #LLJ

    7. I don’t know why anyone even bothers with Twitter, most of the people that use it seem to be over reactionary toddlers.

    8. God forbid anybody go against the Twitter sheep. Any celebrity who still uses it is getting what they deserve at this point. It’s only purpose is for people to blow things out of proportion and create fake outrage on a daily basis. Just delete it.
