Wednesday (August 2) was a historic day in Brooklyn, New York; The Notorious B.I.G. was immortalized with basketball courts named in his honor. The Christopher “Biggie” Wallace Courts officially opened at The Crispus Attucks Playground in Bedford–Stuyvesant, ensuring that the legendary MC would always be a presence in his old neighborhood.

Since there a Biggie fans around the world that may never be able to go to Brooklyn and see the Courts, the New York City Parks and Recreation Department snapped some photos of Wednesday’s ceremony. Now, people around the world can get a glimpse of the courts honoring B.I.G.

NYC Council Member Robert E. Cornegy, Jr, the leading force behind the movement to honor Biggie with this new namesake, led the charge at the opening. The Notorious B.I.G.’s daughter T’yanna Wallace, famed DJ Mister Cee, Uncle Ralph McDaniels, fashionista Jennifer Le, L. Londell McMillan a and Junior M.A.F.I.A. member Lil Cease among others were also in attendance.
