Phonte has announced his long-promised sophomore album No News Is Good News will finally see the light of day, seven years following the release of his solo debut Charity Starts At Home. The LP, which was first announced nearly two years ago, is slated to drop at midnight.
In an interview with HipHopDX in June 2016, he originally targeted for a September 30, 2016 release date.
He originally attributed the delay to the immense amount of things on his plate, including his touring schedule with The Foreign Exchange as well as his role in VH1’s The Breaks as the pro-black battle rap character Imam Ali. On top of that, Phonte released Tigallerro, a collaborative project with singer Eric Roberson, in 2016.
When discussing the album with WatchLoud in July 2016, he noted how different the approach would be from his debut. “I didn’t want to write over the course of a year or two,” he explained. “This project will be a lot more immediate, with song banged out in a short, concentrated burst.”

Finally new Tigallo
So the G.O.A.T. is dropping an album (Phonte), Evidence, Roc Marci, Black Milk. Damn this is hip hop’s best year in some time. Loving 2018
Album is dope
Dope.
Fireeeeee Sunshine rise up cook the breakfast and start the hustle off right music
Threw away a chance to be a legendary rapper to make bullshit, throwaway albums with a white boy. Sad story…
What white boy?
Four of the most underrated of all time dropping albums within a month of each other – Phonte, Royce, Elzhi, Tech. Now we’d just need a Black Thought album to round out the all-time underrated top 5
The always underrated Roc Marciano just dropped too. It’s shaping up be an unbelievable year for hip-hop.
Yessir I believe he’s on that list as well. Anyone saying there’s no new great hip-hop hasn’t actually looked
What a boring album. Skyzoo, Black Milk, Elzhi and now Phonte. But this one is the most boring I’ve heard in a while.
Sadly after 2 or 3 listens I agree so far.. I love his first solo joint, but this one his beat selection I’m not feeling. Most of the beats sound like elevator or dental office waiting room music. I’ll give it a few more burns but so far not good.
Phonte’s bars are on another level
Imma kill shit
Imma be a silent monster
And will shit to happen
Like I’m Teo Salamanca
4 out of 5…Great album..Alot of soul, and soulful singing…And the song he does spit, he handles accordingly…No lie I wish 9th, and Nicolay, Krysis would team up with Phonte, or if they would do another Little Brother album again…What happened to Median? Joe Scudda? Von Pea? Darien Brock? Good album, mainly Phonte doing a Phontigallo/Foreign Exchange concentrated album burst…From LA to NC…Phonte still rocks it…
