Ski Mask The Slump God Makes Good On Promise To Bring Nardwuar Out During Chicago Show

Ski Mask The Slump God has proved to be a man of his word by bringing out Nardwuar during a recent Chicago music festival.

During a Friday (June 30) YouTube interview with the 54-year-old celebrity journalist, Ski told him that he was going to bring him out on stage at Summer Smash 2023 during his performance. “I’m bringing him out on stage, for sure, it has to happen,” he promised.

The video then pans to Nardwuar running swiftly to the corner of the stage next to Ski Mask The Slump God. Both men led the massive crowd into chants of each other’s names before embracing at the end.

Nardwuar has always received love from the Hip Hop community, but he’s garnered an influx of it as of late. He recently reunited with Lil Uzi Vert  after nearly five years since the last time they spoke.

Released on Wednesday (June 28) to Nardwaur’s official YouTube channel, the Candian reporter caught up with Uzi after their set at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash. The reunion seemed to be a heartwarming moment for them both.

As expected, Nardwuar handed Lil Uzi Vert all sorts of gifts, including a vintage break-dancing magazine, fan-made art, and more. The Philly rapper couldn’t be more overjoyed, especially after he suggested that Uzi come to visit him up north.

However, Uzi had a better solution and offered to host the journalist at their home and teach him about Call Of Duty. “You could just come to my house and have dinner,” Uzi said. “…I’ll give you my number, and then I can teach you how to play Call Of Duty.”

Meanwhile, during a 2021 interview with Brian “B. Dot” Miller for a Complex Brackets episode titled “Who’s The Best Soundcloud Rapper?”Ski Mask The Slump God spoke about SoundCloud’s “beautiful” impact on the rap industry and the best artists from the period.

“The SoundCloud era is gonna be remembered for what it did for the people in that era,” Ski said at the time. “The people who was actually listening in that era, whether it’s how much it’s helped them or how it affected their life because it really took a big impact on that people that took participation in it.”

Miller had the rapper pick his favorite SoundCloud rap veterans in 16 figurative head-to-head matches in a tournament bracket-formatted list.

Slump selected $uicideboy$, and Lil Peep among others in the first and second rounds, but ultimately chose XXXTENTACION over Juice WRLD in the championship.

“They were both my brothers, but even if you put that fact to the side, I’d known them musically and what they had grown from and seeing what they had grown from,” Slump said about Juice and XXX. “They’re really true artists and it’s really hard to decipher between the two, you know what I’m saying? It’s like the red or the blue pill from The Matrix.”
