Eminem Releases New Single "Berzerk" Off "The Marshall Mathers LP 2"

Eminem releases new single "Berzerk" and mentions MC Ren, Public Enemy, Kardashians, Lamar Odom, Kevin Federline and Future on the song.

Eminem released his latest song, "Berzerk," the lead single off of his upcoming album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The track, which was released today (August 26), was unveiled on Eminem's official website

"The art of the MCing mixed with da Vinci and MC Ren / And I don't mean Stimpy's friend, bitch," Eminem rhymes on the track. "Been Public Enemy since you thought P.E. was gym, bitch."

While the lines quoted above feature references to N.W.A.'s MC Ren and Public Enemy, Eminem also names other celebrities on the track.

"They say that love is powerful as cough syrup and styrofoam," Eminem says on the song. "All I know is I fell asleep and woke up in that Monte Carlo / With the ugly Kardashian / Lamar, oh sorry, yo, we done both set the bar low."

The song, which also mentions Kevin Federline and Future, can be heard below. It was released along with a video that features a boom box. Eminem only appears at the start of the clip to place a tape inside of the deck. He then walks away and lets the song begin.

Eminem previewed the track yesterday (August 25), with two commercials for the selection. The longest commercial of the two can be seen below.

dude should go back to acting. or is that what he's been doing?...

  • anonymuz

i think we all should, as i definitely will give up on eminem if this album isn't something better than or at least equal to what other artists whose level he Should be on (jay-z, nas etc). judging this song, its not the same old eminem we all know and want back, but never will, for the plain simple fact that he went through a drastic life change going sober, which has drastically changed his outlook on life and how he approaches his music. he lost his I don't give a fuck attitude probably around Encore. I don't know if he will ever get his old flow back. Nobody wants him to go back on drugs, he's setting a great example by continuuing to do music while sober. it's a crazy hard thing to do. but then again, look at all the greats who have died from drugs. i'm glad he's gotten his personal life together, but maybe he should focus on his personal life and leave the music alone if he's going to put out sub-par music. the dude need to take some time to himself until he ready to really get back into the rap game. nobody can argue with any thing i just said. its the truth. he's diluting himself as an artist because he feels he has an obligation to continue being one of the greats, when he's changed as a person; and i'm surestill is a great dude, but what most hard core em fans know is that slim shady is the illest. where'd he go after the eminem show?

That's all they do, type he sold _______ like that's supposed to make you jump on the bandwagon and change your opinion from what your ears like. Sucker sh*t. I've listened to Eminem since he came out, a lot of his catalog has zero replay value to me and I have no problem giving him credit and props for his lyrical acumen in any Hip Hop conversation any day. I've been listening to Ironman, Daily Operation, The Low End Theory, Albert Einstein and The Main Ingredient all month. I can't recall when I've ever done that to an Eminem album after I revisited it, and I KNOW he murdered that BET cypher. One of my favorite songs from him is Warning, yes the Mariah diss. THAT'S the last Slim Shady sighting I've seen. And this is what we say about you Eminem fans, we just can't have a conversation with you. At least Jay and Nas fans can name other people's music and admit the misfires and duds of their heroes, you Eminem fans actually try to make it like he does no wrong at all and if you say it you're the ultimate hater of mankind. "Eminem murdered you on your own sh*t"-Nas 'Ether' How the fvck we all haters when we AGREE? If ANYTHING, Rick Rubin should have pulled out an unreleased Beastie track or had AR ROCK and MIKE D THERE on this. The floor is yours Stanleys.

lol who cares if you like Eminem or not, the fact is he will go down as one of the greatest rappers ever. to say his not is top 50 is a joke itself. Recovery was a great album, and to prove he one of the greatest, you'r never over. But back to this song, yes its different, so if you can't adjust like he can, some nice hiphop bangers out there, i love it for the beat :)

my buddy's mother makes $86 every hour on the computer. She has been unemployed for 5 months but last month her check was $16662 just working on the computer for a few hours. Go to this web site and read more... www.Cafe44.com Yeah being the co founder of Def-Jam with Russel Simmons, he sure is whats wrong with hip hop you fucking IDIOT. And he's rich because he's a musical genius, do some research.

  • SHADY BUT NOT SLIM

YOU SOLD A BUNCH OF RECORDS TO A BUNCH OF WHITE TEENS ABOUT POPPING PILLS AND LIVING IN A TRAILER PARK. I DON'T FEEL THAT STORY OR YOUR CATALOG. I GIVE YOU THE FACT THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY PUT WORDS TOGETHER AND MAKE THEM RHYME BUT SO CAN MY 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. INTERSCOPE MADE A LOT OF MONEY OFF OF " THE GREAT WHITE HOPE" BUT YOU NEVER WILL GET FIVE MIC'S OR RESPECT BECAUSE OF YOUR CONTENT. WHO CARES ABOUT YOUR BOLOGNA STRUGGLE IN THE HIP HOP COMMUNITY. YOUR NEW MUSIC SOUNDS EVEN WORST THAT WHEN YOU CAME OUT. I BOUGHT YOUR SECOND ALBUM AND WILL NEVER PUT MONEY INTO A TRASH MUSICIAN LIKE YOU AGAIN. I GIVE YOU FIVE SONGS YOUR ENTIRE CAREER. NOW I'M OLD SCHOOL FOR THE PEOPLE WONDERING I DON'T CARE THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION AND EMINEM IS NOT TOP 50 IN MY RANKING FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT CROSSOVER MUSIC.

    • drizzy!

Co-sign! I stopped buying anything affiliated with Eminem after the 8 Mile Soundtrack. MMLP was good, but to call it a classic is utterly ridiculous. Any album with "the real slim shady" on it can't be a classic. He's a talented emcee no doubt, and has some fantastic songs, but his catalog doesn't match his actual skill, definitely overhyped.

  • ITSSSSSSSSSSS GUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCI/IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII TIMEEEEEEEEEEEEE

EMINEM AINT A REAL NIGGA GUCCI MANE is the realest rapper and heres why. 1) all other rappers rap about being gangster shooting and killing but they havent done it. 2) Eminem raps about killing he hasnt. 3)Jay z raps in open letter about sending shots he hasnt. 4)Nas raps about how he is a queens thug but he wasn't. 5)Most of the rappers rap about stuff they havent done yet you all support them and say its real rap. 6)When rick ross does it you all claim he is fake and say its fake rap. This shows that hiphop fans are hypocritical and all these real hiphop fan wanna be's are just some unjustified haters whose opinions are just as irrelevent as the swag fag rapper fans. GUCCI MANE KILLED A MAN HE WAS A DRUG DEALER BEFORE RAPPER HE HAS STREET CREDENTIALS HE IS THE ONLY RAPPER THAT RAPS ABOUT FACTS THERE FORE BIG GUWOP IS THE REALEST RAPPER IN THE RAP GAME AND THATS A FACT!

    • Ian

Lol. Appreciate hip hop. For skill, not a rapper's criminal record. Gucci can't rap worth shit. Nas and Eminem are artists. And they've rapped about things that they've seen first hand. 2Pac called himself a reporter the way he documented police beatings way before he had ever received one.. Does that make Pac a fake too? But hey, Gucci is a "real nigga" cause he killed a man right? Lol.

    • Anonymous

that doesnt mean gucci is a good rapper. he can be as real as they come but hes wack wen it comes to rappin. and half the people u mentioned u dont know personally. u dont have the balls to say any of that to their faces. ur jus talkin shit. i bet u know guccis wack. tahts why u try to distract people from his lyrically handicapped music. guccie shud wear a helmet when he records cuz he sounds mentally handicapped. yeah bitch i said it. suck it! Natural Born Hooligans!

  • Joe

this is un-listenable. he's not flowing at all, just screaming off beat in a ridiculous voice. this is ridiculous. you're right, he is evolving with the times. His music has progressively gotten worse, and he's back on the same level as all of these new artists.

  • Gucci The Realest

The fakeness of Eminem: - He hates gaypeople but did a song with homo Elton John. Fact! - He hates gaypeople but dye his hair blond. Fact! - He talks about killing but didnt do anything. Fact! - he dissed Britney Spears and NSYNCH but did songs with Rihanna and Pink. Fact! Eminem is a product by Interscope Records! But Gucci is a product of the streets! Long Live Gucci Mane The Great!

    • Ian

Do your research. He used the term 'fag' the same way it was used in his hood growing up. He performed (didn't do a song with) Elton John to specifically show that he isn't homophobic. Hair dyed blond - irrelevant. Talking about killing - You're making yourself sound stupid. And he's expressing where his mind has gone to Britney and Nsync (not Nysnch) - Not the same, or even close to the same, as Rihanna and Pink. I'm guessing by the quality of your arguments that you are about twelve years old.

  • jay23

I have learned that this generation is not a into lyrics. I also learned that my generation is stuck in the pass. Hip hop from 95-2001 will never be replicated. But you have to embrace the new sound from the cats from that era. People say em don't sound the same is just crazy. People talk about Jay Z like he suppose to be that same person at 26. Em has evolved and will put a lyrical ass whooping on any new cat on the mic today.

    • @ anon3

Valid point, but no one in the 80s, 90s, 00's RnB thinks they are better than the Motown era. I know Muddy Waters is better than Excuse My French (* salutes Max B *), regardless of time. @ anon1 you sound just like the powers that be who told Marvin Gaye "I Want You" would never sell, he's a has been and should retire. And you know what? They did the same exact thing LATER when "Midnight Love" was presented, said the 80s crowd wouldn't relate to a 60's-70s icon so he should just go out on top. Like seriously, how many of you still listen to the Stones, Led, Aerosmith, Biohazard, Ozzy, Def, AC, Depeche, Motley, many many more I can't even name right now and KNOW you would cop a new album? Stevie Wonder went gold in 95, and TEN YEARS LATER, went gold. WTF is YOU talking about? I can't STAND how you weirdos always want to put stipulations on how music should sound and who should sell and who should stop. LET THE MOTHAFUCKIN MUSIC SPEAK FOR ITSELF AND STFU.

    • Anonymous

You say 95-2001, other people say 80s, other people say only 90s, other people mid 00s..see my point? Just because YOU believe that era was golden and YOU enjoyed it doesnt make it facts. You only enjoyed those days because you have memories of your younger days attached to those years. Same thing you saying now people said in the mid 90s.

    • Anonymous

in other words, it's the people, worry about what you like and not what everyone is saying.

    • Anonymous

i dont embrace the new style by: jayz, eminem, mobb deep etc because its boring. There comes a point that you just must retire because you too old, lame, wack etc. Nothing to be ashamed of if JayZ would say well i retire but still rapping and repeating yourself album after album thats not good.

My opinion: This isn't that bad. I think it's better than most of his "Recovery" album. I'm hoping MMLP2 will be better than this song as a whole, but it's not a bad introduction to what we might hear. Only time will tell I guess.

If you kids were old enough to remember back when The Slim Shady LP came out in the late 90's, Eminem's 1'st single is always the goofiest track on the album. Hi, My Name Is(Slim Shady LP), The Real Slim Shady(Marshall Mathers LP), Just Lose it(Encore), Etc..... So with that being said, If all of you were really Fans of Eminem since day 1, then this song choice for his first single would not have surprised you. I guarantee his album will be Fire though!!

  • England's Kenny

Eminem doesn't need to be drug addled to make good music like he did a decade ago. Why do some people want him to be on drugs again?

yeah not gonna lie I can defend a lot of his tracks because I think hes always looking for a new way to reinvent himself but I cant sign off on this. I hope he just throws this shit away and chalks if up as a loss. Eminem is considered a legend because he doesn't do club jams or radio smashes. He needs to stick to what he does best ripping people and making thought provoking or sentimental records. No "go crazy hahaha" or fucking goof records, in the last 3 years you've been called the greatest rapper alive by probably ten well known mc's he needs to remember that shit.

    • KPD

Eminem has been making radio hits ever since his first commercial album. He is known for making a radio single to sell records... that's his formula. "My Name is....." "The Real Slim Shady" "Without me" "Just Lose it" "Crack a bottle" Come up with a pop, catchy song with a ridiculous and make fun of as many people as you can to get attention. That was his formula. It appeals to all the idiots who this country is filled with who spend money and buy records (same people who google 'miley cyrus VMAs') and then his other better tracks appeal to people who like real hip hop. If this is his radio single it doesn't bother me that much... He better have some fucking banging tracks on the album though. I wasn't feeling recovery at all but I know he still has it in him (SHADY 2.0 Cypher)!!!!

What is with all the hating on this track, has Eminem ever really produced club bangers????? he goes where no other artist dare go, outside their comfort zone. Of course if you listen to the repetitive stuff out now, tapout etc, you not going to like it. Remember when Lil Wayne come out with a rock rap album, failed because he does not have 1/4 of Eminem lyrical depth.

    • R.Pgh

The Beastie Boys 'dared' to go this route nearly 3 decades ago and it sounded 10x as good as this. I like Em, but this was trash.

    • ROYCE DA 5'9

I diddnt say that shit. I said if Em wants to make dope music again he needs to leave Hailie ass alone and get back in the booth.

    • Anon

Well if you dont like this, then you wont like the album, Royce said that you will either like or hate the new Eminem music. Honestly can you blame him for trying something different.

    • with ears like d r

i think its good every eminem single has been sort of weak the album probly fire

    • Jack

Imron, you're obviously not a fan if you're saying 'it sucks'. You have absolutely no idea what Em is trying to do and the purpose of the song. If you don't like it, that's fine, but saying 'it sucks' shows how much of a moron you really are. Peace.

    • Imron

Stop talking about other stuff to avoid dealing with reality. I'm a fan... but no one here is talking about tupac or wayne... just this song and eminem. It sucks, not because of anything else, not because it doesn't sound like marshall mathers, not because people expect something different. It sucks because it's not good. You like it? great... that doens't mean the rest of us have to.

  • Imron

I heard the chorus on the preview shown the other day an was like "nice, this is going to be a hot track!" Then I heard the the track.... such a disappointment. I liked the "old school" idea but he didn't do it right... it just doesn't sound good. I hope the this song does not reflect the album and for god sake please don't let "survival" be on the album too... or this may actually be more like relapse part 2.....why relapse? because it sucks.

Em new style is weak and flow is trash. He's sticking with it because it sells. This is not a good song to put in peoples heads when expecting the sequel to The Marshall Mathers LP

I'd say the style/delivery will be the same as the MMLP to a point. No drug-induced raps. He's matured somewhat, over each album, so he sounds like he's gone back to "Still don't give a phuck" style.

The first one he puts out is either pretty good or decent to get people ramped up, then The following singles are more aggressive and in your face. I thought the song was pretty good. And if anyone is familiar with beastie boys style of rapping thats what em was doing here. With that said im not disappointed. A lot more to come. MMLP2 will not be a let down.

    • POPO

  • Chris Etrata

For those complaining about this song (I love this by the wway), this is how hiphop sounded like in the 80's. It's Golden Age Hiphop with one of the leading producers being rick rubin, who produced this sound.

    • Chris Etrata

Had to pose myself as dentalbitch by the way because he poses others all the time. Eminem running this muthafucking game. To those that think its too different, listen to some golden age hiphop. Good night everyone.

    • kenajj

oh definitely they'll all suck for the most part, but the point is that this sound will be widely heard. and it's an excellent sound, beat, etc. and none will match this. Em GOAT if i'm bein honest

    • dentaldamboy

Still, 7-9 producers worked on each track for yeezus, making it hard for one producer to stand out. Yeezus was trying to go for a more experimental sound. I don't know if the sound will be representative for the entire album but it seems it will go back to basics. As for side note, most of these freestyles will probably suck.

I heard he was more heavily involved in Yeezus than HGMC. I enjoyed both, but Yeezus was the better of the two. Ye really trying to take hip-hop into new territory while acknowledging the past. Kinda like Berzerk. side note: can you imagine how many sick freestyles will be inevitably made by up-and-coming rappers over this beat? this is a beat for the ages.

Yes that was. He namedropped Khloe Kardashian and her girlfriend, Lamar only to realize it could be taken wrongly as a diss to Kendrick Lamar. It's becoming more common to have Rick Rubin executive produce legends work like Yeezus, Holy Grail Magna Carta, and now this but unlike those 2 albums, he actually produced tracks for MMLP like this song. He knows how hiphop can be done right.

yeah i caught that and btw was that a Kendrick shout-out? cuz that's nice. and Rick Rubin is a fucking legend. it's insane to have Dre and Rubin exec. produce the same fucking album

    • Chris Etrata

I know. People are complaining about shitty production in 2013 yet when something that harkins back to the old days come about, people bitch about it. Did you catch the birdbitch reference in this?

    • kenajj

nah i was replying to "Kramer"

    • Chris Etrata

Tapout sucked. Hiphop production in 2013 is just the same beats in every song. It's just production for kids today. Bezerk's production harkins back to the 80's, more grown up music.

    • Kramer

Ok thats fine. But its Eminem...and its 2013...

    • kenajj

go listen to Tapout again faggot

Just heard it. Listened to it about 3 times. I've been a die hard Em fan since 5th grade, so I'm always happy to hear some new music from him. With that being said I like the song as a whole...BUT still not sold for some reason. Im glad he's not doing the double time whiny voice anymore but it just does not compare to his earlier work IM0. The lyrics just don't hold the same impact as MMLP. Not saying he did not have dope lines. "Been a public enemy since you thought P.E. was gym!" That made me smile. I'm not gonna judge too hard. This seems more like a radio hit anyway. I wanna hear more before I start saying its not/is better than MMLP. Production is sick though and I love hearing him on power beats like this. Hopefully we wont have to wait too long before hearing more off the album. With all that being said welcome back Shady!
