Back home in Chicago for Thanksgiving, Chance The Rapper decided to stop over at his home Hip Hop radio station and let the hometown know what he’s been up to recently.

Sitting down with 107.5 WGCI, Chance talked about one of the biggest influences on his upcoming album with The Social Experiment. It was previously rumored that Kirk Franklin’s music had a big pull on the sonic direction of the project.

“I grew up in the church,” he said. “The song [“surf”] specifically is dedicated to my grandmother who kept me into church so that’s a big feel on a new thing. [Kirk Franklin] is a musical genius. He put together a lot of that stuff. He’s a choir director, dream musician.”

When asked to name a person who he would most want to collaborate with, Chance The Rapper said Sean Paul would be one who he would choose.

“I really like Sean Paul. Some people don’t understand why but Sean Paul’s hot!” Chance said. “Sean Paul, Kirk Franklin, I’m trying to get DJ Khaled to do a drop on one of my songs.”

Chance The Rapper is currently working on a new project with his band The Social Experiment called Surf. He recently released the single “Sunday Candy” from the forthcoming release.
