Nas has recently released several videos to complement his incredible album Nas, which was released over the summer. Many feel this album didn’t get it’s proper due dilligence because Jay Z and Beyonce released Everything Is Love pretty much at the exact same time.
In this beautiful piece of cinematic work, we see young boys and men mobbing around their neighborhood. The young boys play with toy guns and pretend to shoot eachother while the grown ups sit idly by, minding their own. We then see Nas himself hanging out in a beautiful church setting. Religious imagery has always been a very common troupe in the genre of rap videos. It envokes a feeling of wanting forgiveness, to be saved. Nas hopes to be absolved of his own sins in the hopes that they do not bleed into the next generation of young black children.
