HipHopDX Premiere: With the focus and importance our youth places on being fashionable, staying up with the latest trends and ensuring their “shoe game” is top-notch, those pursuits can unfortunately lead to violence. Far too many kids have been killed for their shoes. Killa Kyleon has dedicated an entire track to this type of tragedy. Titled “Killing Over Jays,” the video finds Killa getting into the high price tag of the shoes and exploring how the black community continues to consume them, often forgoing paying rent and child support to buy shoes. At its essence, the video is a PSA trying to communicate how senseless all of this is.
“Killing Over Jays” is taken from The Lorraine Motel project, which he released last month. This summer, Killa plans to release a new studio album, Texas Plates & Candy Paint 3, with Scarface, Devin The Dude, Bun B, A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, Willie D, Young Dolph, and Z-Ro.
