S.T.R.A.P, which stands for Sound That Roars African Pride, is a Ugandan rapper based out of Wichita, Kansas. His Ugandan background greatly contributes to the versatile and unique style depicted through his self-expressive rhymes. He is heavily influenced by the sound of East Coast 90s boom bap, while still delivering his cadence with a new age feel. Additionally, he incorporates his African heritage into many facets of his music.
Now, he releases a new music video for “Kid From Zion,” which was shot, directed, and edited by Thad Swift. This two-in-one video has S.T.R.A.P portrayed in a small portable TV, with one video portraying time lapse and the other depicting performance footage of the artist. The TV takes on an almost baton-like characteristic as it passes from person to person, before finally ending in the hands of its real owner.
The visuals are co-directed, produced, and storyboarded by S.T.R.A.P. Let us know what you think below.
