With a name like Siimba Liives Long, it makes sense the Ethiopian American MC is continually shooting videos with lions as supporting characters. Like in a 2015 video for “Cocaine Bimbie,” the Brooklyn-based artist is filmed again kicking it with lions in Africa.

Despite the mighty distractions, Siimba can actually spit. In his latest video for the track “W.I.A.,” he’s once again joined by his feline friends, and delivers impeccable rhymes with such precision, it’s strange he hasn’t gotten more attention.

Produced by MF Love and directed by Magnus Jonsson, “W.I.A.” comes from his Sonic Series project, Zemenay’s Gemini. The last single, “Lost Souls,” was released in March.

“We shot it back in Ethiopia and South Africa,” Siimba tells DX. “Growing up, I spent lots of time in both places and they’re both special to me. The Sonic Series has many dark themes, but this song and video represent a much brighter sentiment and emotion. Even though there are still some darker topics mentioned, it still possesses a feeling of hope that isn’t as prevalent in most of the project.”
