HipHopDX Exclusive Premiere: Brooklyn rapper LeVarsity dropped his 4TUNES EP last month and now he releases the first visuals for “#DCMS (Don’t Cramp My Style).” The single’s fun, minimalistic vibe bears similarities to The Pack’s “Vans.” Produced by Dre Da Giant with an infectious bass swing on the song’s verses that transforms to an entrancing, hollowed-out groove on the chorus, where LeVarsity quotes lyrics from Busta Rhymes’ classic “Scenario” verse, the vibrant BrannDannArt-directed video features cameos from Black Monks Ent. friends and fellow creatives.

“Growing up in Brooklyn gave me a certain confidence about myself,” LeVarsity explains. “I grew up hearing a lot of Notorious BIG, Busta Rhymes, Fabolous, and of course Jay-Z. These guys put Brooklyn on the map. They made people respect the artists that are Brooklyn bred. So I always hold myself to those standards. You can’t be an artist from Brooklyn and be wack. I never brag about being the best but I do realize how talented I am and love that I could say I’m from Brooklyn at the end of the day.”
