Unintentional hilarity reigns righteous in Lyric Jones’ “Double Life.” Interpolating scenes from the classic film Office Space, the Boston-native expounds on the pressure of holding down a day job while building a creative career at night. Slaving away for someone else’s tax break is arduous. But it’s the road most travel for most artists most of the time.

“I wrote the song on my lunch break right before I went on my first tour with Cali Agents,” Jones details for HipHopDX. “I was sitting in my cubicle concerned on when to tell my boss I’m leaving for a month. I feared losing my job.”

Office Space served as the backdrop for her GEMS From The Cubicle EP, released late last year.
