HipHopDX Premiere: The work ethic of Oakland rapper Tree Thomas is truly staggering. For months, he’s been spitting out track after track and video after video. After dropping some “FACXX” earlier this month,” he’s back with a new EP — Tree Is Love.

Produced by frequent collaborator Trippy Sanders, the five-track effort puts his penchant for lyricism on display while at the same time exposing his vulnerabilities in love.

Beginning with a sample of Jimi Hendrix’s “The Wind Cries Mary,” Tree Is Love pays homage to the Bay Area with “Intro (Oakland),” which leads into “That’s Love.” The project wraps up with “Donnell Freestyle,” another mellow exploration of love and relationships.
