Fresh off a year of some solid guest features and stand-alone singles, Derek Pope returns with the self-produced “Same Dream,” the dark, anthemic intro to Pope’s next project titled The Introverted Socialite. Pope’s mellow vocals float over most of the song, with a few powerful moments before returning to the melodic, almost haunting chorus. In the record, Pope reveals a recurring dream in which he’s drowning and no one is there to save him – though he can’t blame them, he’s pushed everyone away to see his real dream.
Pope will be releasing a track from the project each week until the EP’s full release on December 14. Pope states, “The project has a loose storyline that ties it all together. An intro, a middle, a finale. I wanted it to feel like a television season – people can tune in to a new episode every week.”
