In 2013, St. Louis-based music label, Big Future Entertainment (BFE) was set to become what Cash Money Records had become to New Orleans with their stars, Res (born Maurice Miller) and Vinnie Boom. Cino Hardin, the CEO of BFE wanted the world to see the lyrical ability of St. Louis MCs that hadn’t been as showcased through the years. The three childhood friends had a dream for St. Louis and their label. BFE’s number one artist, Res had built a huge following and was respected as an actual lyricist and emcee. His swag, unforgettable adlibs and music was different from what people expected out of St. Louis. He was determined to rise out of the violence that seemed to have many inner city St. Louis neighborhoods under siege. Res believed music would be his outlet for a better life. No nursery-styled rhymes in sight, Res was far from pop and closer to the essence of Hip Hop. Vinnie Boom’s laid back Midwest flow and hood stories added to the street vibe and popularity of BFE’s music. With successful mixtapes and shows with Jeezy, Gucci Mane and Yo Gotti under their belt, Res, Vinnie Boom and Big Future Entertainment were set to release the labels first official single “Do It For A Gangsta” a collaboration between Vinnie Boom, Res and their long-time St. Louis affiliate- Memphis rapper, Yo Gotti. “Do It For A Gangsta” was set to be released December 2nd. Unfortunately the horrific violence in St. Louis that Res had always rapped about escaping had no mercy for his dreams and future as the star everyone knew he was. Res who starts off the “Do it for a gangsta” single was killed on November 29th, 2013. Big Future Entertainment took a long break to recover, but Cino and Vinnie Boom decided that they would continue Res’ dream. The label is back and better than ever with an upcoming EP from Vinnie Boom and the St. Louis favorite, “Do It For A Gangsta” with Vinnie Boom, Res and Yo Gotti.
