Stick with what you know. Wiz Khalifa adheres to this mantra on the new Taylor Allderdice mixtape. Taylor Allderdice is the rapper’s metaphorical return – after the poppy sabbatical that was Rolling Papers – and is underscored by many of the same producers (Sledgren, Cardo, Big Jerm) that helped him hone his signature sound in the past. Taylors can rejoice that their stoner friend is back.
“I swear I got so high last night/I don’t remember going to sleep,” Wiz raps on the breezy opener “Amber Ice.” It’s one hazy ride through 17 tracks (probably best enjoyed in an elevated state), from the lush, trippy “California” to “Mia Wallace” (named after Uma Thurman’s character in the 1994 cult classic flick Pulp Fiction). On the bluesy latter, Wiz flexes his worldly penchant for the herb by laundry-listing different names/strains by geography: “California Kush, New York smokin’ Sour D/Detroit Bubba Kush, ATL is OG…Out in Amsterdam, Wizzle smokin’ overseas.” Model Amber Rose may be Wiz’s new fiancé, but Mary Jane still rules his heart.
Rose provides ancillary spoken vocals on “Never Been Part II,” a bright, synthy sequel to the Kush & OJ track, along with Rick Ross. Other guest verses are largely relegated to Taylor Gang affiliates and prove forgettable – Lola Monroe (“The Code”) – with the exception of Juicy J, whose several collaborations shine among the fray. The Spaceghostpurp-helmed “T.A.P.” is a pounding, druggy duet in which Wiz and J celebrate their shared predilections. “All my niggas straight drug addicts/ cause it takes one for you to know one,” Wiz raps gleefully on what’s a fresh interpretation of Three 6 Mafia. “Talking like this, I’ll be walking like this/Sold a few hoes and I bought a new bitch,” J adds. They tell addicts not to socialize with each other for fear of relapse, but musically at least Wiz and J are ideal for one another.
The after-effects of fame are glaringly apparent on Taylor Allderdice, perhaps more so than on Wiz’s previous efforts. Post-“Black and Yellow,” Wiz has upped the ante on the flagrant talk and braggadocio. “These niggas jealous I’m something they not/It’s all good/Shit, I expected that,” he raps flatly on “Nameless” to his detractors, yet unlike many of his young contemporaries, there doesn’t seem to be a much of a downside or even contemplation thereof. Wiz genuinely loves nouveau fame and relishes in his king-size rolling papers, spending “30 racks” on champagne and a wife with a “pornographic figure.” “When you living this high/you can’t be afraid of heights,” he raps fittingly on “My Favorite Song.” The prodigal stoner, deservingly, takes his spoils.
DX Consensus: “EP-Worthy”
Okay…we get it Wiz khalifa….you smoke weed….talk about something else already
Awesome awesome
Yeah, this was a post-Rolling Papers mixtape. Not exactly up to his pedigree.
Yeah.. see, ppl like this sayin “not up to his pedigree..” are jus ignorant. Have you heard kush and Oj? or B.A.R? This is up to par with his old mixtapes..
Average
Average!!!
TOP NOTCH TGOD
I think people are going crazy over it because it’s not the mainstream disaster that was rolling papers, but honestly I don’t find myself really playing this mixtape like this…not that its not good, but nothing really stands out to me.
And the weed talk is getting old. we understand if thats your persona, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to show growth in your lyrics
from a pittsburgh native its dope he aint aiming to please noone taylors do what they want
YES,
Finally something I can listening to while eating pussy in the back of the lac.
Thank you,
Mr. Wiz
Lol….thats the gayest comment ever
Best comment ever*
Dont u mean while sucking a mean cock??? Too baby bitch ass niggas on this site
he means sucks cock in the back of a corolla
Been rockin wit Wiz since Kush and OJ… He fell off tho wit rolling papers. But I dont see how u cant like this mixtape. He did his thing 4.5* I dont claim to be a Taylor.. I used to be a fan this mixtape made me like him again
I would say he fell off. Atlantic makes artists change up in order to have commercial success. Get movie and tv placements, etc. The did the same thing with Lupe
WIZ!
AMAZING JUST AMAZING
Taylor Gang!
it was dope i like sum of dem track on there
Great top to bottom
Wiz Klhalifa iz a top 10 rapper dead or alive. he iz one of the savior of hip hop. this mixtape iz better then Illmatic, Life After Death, Enter Da 36 Chambers, MMLP, tha Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt, Ready to Die, All Eyez On Me, etc… swag
Cool story bro. You’re a top 10 troll dead or alive.
top 15 dead or alive
and you must of been a dropped baby to think the tape is better than all eyez on me
[big wiz fan]
He’s top 10. If you just started listening to rap 3 years ago. I bet you think Drake is the greatest singer alive.
This kid probably never has heard All Eyes on Me.
Ignorance out the mouth of babes.
@ICY BOI……KILL YOURSELF!!!
hjkh
First of all, this was a very well put together mixtape. It seems like in the past hes done a lot more party music, but, with this one he expanded his sound. I dont think its as good as kush and oj but it definitely competes. 4.5 stars
It’s also quite a bit darker than his bast music.
*past
good mixtape
TGOD
If you like TG then you will like me.. search “CharlieC Hiphop” in google!
haha ..the first bars of this mixtape sum it up entirely..i would never waste my time listening to music like this hahah shit sucks and isnt even trippy/good to smoke to..trash switch up ur content just a little bit man.
If you dont like the weed talk listen to something else. Plain and simple. There’s plenty of us out here who will. Keep it coming wiz.TGOD
I like weed talk. Just not from a lame.
dope!
hella nice
not bad
… and to you other niggas. Talk’n bout how much you get high, and how much weed you smoke, and all that other spaced out shit that don’t even make no sense, don’t even speak to me when you see me.
Word. I’m bout to get on some old high school shit and start punch niggas in they face just for living.
I said what I had to say, ya’ll can continue on.
**** kill nuthin let nuthin die nigga. **** thuggish ruggish *****
Great Effort
Its even better that his best effort is named after the greatest High School… My high school Taylor Allderdice~!
This mixtape is just okay to me. It is not as good as Kush and OJ or Cabin Fever. Maybe I will give it a few more listens but so far I am not really feeling it. Wiz Khalifa needs to switch up his subject matter because Talking about Marijuana/Weed the whole time gets Boring and this is coming from somebody who likes weed and Wiz. Plus none of the tracks on the mixtape really stood out to me.
Worst rapper alive…
wat the fuck is wrong with u. wiz isn’t the wrost rapper lil b is
He’s in the top 5.
top 5 simps
Actually Lil b is much better than wiz…
Fucking disgrace to hip hop. He hasn’t made anything good since prince of the city 2
shut the fuck up why would he want to keep rapping as if hes on the block all the time when that is obiviously no longer the case hes fucking rich now so he raps rich and if your to fucking stupid to comprehend that get off the page and go listen to some “hood this ghetto that” meek mill bullshit
Everything taylord! cant wait for the album O.N.I.F.C
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap0W6h9wyNo
This mixtape is fire for what it is. Fans these days have to much expectations. For example, artists spoil fans so much with free music that they expect it to be album quality. Why is Hip-Hopdx even reviewing this mixtape? That’s the expectations that mixtapes have evolved into. It’s not an album so don’t go in thinking it’s supposed to sound like one. My advice is treat the shit like it’s free music to listen to. Either you like or not. If you don’t like it shut the fuck up and don’t listen to his music at all.
He’s gettin money and livin’ it up that’s all that matters. How can you hate on someone that’s nothin but positive and happy. People these days…
OF COURSE. Because critiquing his music is ALWAYS considered hating.
‘he’s getting money and living it up that’s all that matters’
Au contraire. I really couldn’t give a shit about his financial status and I don’t care whether or not he’s ‘happy’ either.
The only thing that REALLY matters is the quality of music being released.
And unfortunately, it’s nothing more than mediocre.
i couldnt stand listening to this guy talk after all the songs trying to sound deep and intelligent but really sounding like an idiot
wonder how many more songs about weed and money he can write
Even though subject matter isn’t all crazy and lyrical, the beats and melodic choruses are enough to give this mixtape 5 stars. He’s rapping what’s relevant to him as of now, if he had songs about being in the streets, selling coke, struggling etc. then he’d be a fake.
Really nigga? Those are the only two options? Rap about weed or rap about coke?
No one is asking him to be ‘crazy and lyrical’.
The problem is, Wiz isn’t even willing to CHALLENGE himself lyrically, sonically or in terms of subject matter.
Mixtape was decent though
great
great great great
Y hate Wiz so much. He always raps about cool ass shit. He’s got these videos on youtube, and he just lives a super sick lifestyle. I can no longer hear jeezy, or gucci, or ace hood, or young/old ass buck slang werk on the block any more. I’m sure you Wiz haters still think tupac/biggie is GOAT status.. Get over it. You like old shit.. I get it. You don’t like hearing or seeing successful shit. You like to click on niggas albums reviews just to say your negative shit.. All I can say to that is “Oh Kayyy”…
Taylor Gang or get the tape pulled outta yo biggie cassettes
Your a dickrider my dude, back to the mixtape its dope. period.
hahaha u have a bad taste in music. straight up..prolly some cornball white college kid. wiz khalifa sucks and ur mad he wont be relevant years down the road like BIG and pac are u fucking cornball
5/5 and it’s just a mixtape
Yea the beats and melodies are definitely fire. Little frustrating that I feel like he wasn’t even trying when he could have made alot of songs amazing because it’s just a free mixtape. Almost wasting the incredible beats but still legit. I hope he spends time and makes the album Legendary.
The production is fire, lyrics leave a lot more to be desired. Then again Wiz isn’t exactly known for his lyrics, but still…I feel like he could have done better on that point. Love the jazzy beats though.
call 603 471 3487 to get your dick sucked bruh trill shit
Best shit out now!!
school is running through my mind, don’t want to go back to them kind.
Homework is done for the campionship kind, scimmed through it couple of times. How can the others be so blind?
Ain’t got a forest, nothing. Too easy…feel me? Ill just let you be cause I see the other keys.
Love Wiz TGOD
AWESOME DOESNT GET ANY BETTER!!!
Hey by the way [writer], Wiz hasnt upped the ante on his talk, that quote you have in paragraph four is Chevy Woods rapping, Wiz Raps the hook and the second verse. Just pointing it out.
nice
Wiz goin in
Dope! Good looks representing allderdice dude! TA06!
Pretty good, could use some more up-beat songs though.
The second-half has some of the best beats Wiz has ever had. The first half is hit and miss.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been a wiz fan for a while now and I’ve seen him live prob 6 times. This mixtape is just ok to me at most. A lot of people just like wiz for his image and cause he’s a cool dude. Lyrics are what make music and I believe we will never get B.A.R or kush and oj wiz back and it sucks to say that. I believe wiz has talent but the lyrics are just so simple. I miss old wiz. Does any other real Taylor fans agree with me? Maybe the mixtape just has to grow on me but I’ve been disappointed with wiz music lately.
The Grinder, Brainstorm, Number 16, Blindfolds, Nameless. The rhyme scheme on Mary3x is great, really listen to the multies. Never Been Part 2 is classic Wiz. Come on man just listen
I agree with you but Wiz has never been a lyrical talent. He is more talented at making catchy songs that stoners can rejoice to and he returned to that on this tape
After hearing it. its not sumthing i can listen to on repeat. never been was one of my favorite songs on KxOJ. he made it a true sequel cuz it sucked. he has made his rhymes more simplified that the past. California is the best track. hes the best when he goes from the heart. this mixtapes is shuffled in my smoking mix but not an everyday listen. lola monroe could be better. she has the talent for rap but just should curse so much and upgrade on the content. love that juicy is back tho. these white kids dont know shit about the three 6 days and its sad. but he is a lil old to b so trippy. he wont b with us long. chevy should just stay his homie
lol the average rating 4.20
it”s ights
I am really enjoying Taylor Allderdice! It’s a return to pre- rolling papers, and that’s the Wiz I’m use to. He got a new swag from the fame, and it’s good to hear him spit the new lifestyle and stunt on people. I would give this album a 4.3
I must buy it!

TGOD
Nah son.
so far the best mixtape of the year
badass
sick
Should have been a double album with his other one.
Better than RP but it’s still average…
terrible lyrics
the user rating says 4.20.. swag!
Nice tape.
Wiz’ flow is on point and the beats are dope as fuck.
not a fan of wiz, but this album goes hard
“These niggas jealous I’m something they not/It’s all good, shit I expected that”
wtf, Wiz didn’t say that. That was Chevy Woods’ line idiot
