Another summer blockbuster movie,
another ho-hum tie in album. This album however brings new meaning to the word
ho-hum.

The Product G&B,
Wyclef
‘s
new pet project, offer the first single from the album called Cluck Cluck.
Catchy hook, sing-songy lyrics; hit written all over it right? Maybe, if the
over-hyped Wyclef was not involved. The track will be forgotten by fall.
Do you wanna roll with Snoop, R.L., and Lil’ Kim is
a laissez faire sounding track, laced with Snoop’s lazed lyrics.
Verdict: Average. Mario with Fabulous delivers Tameeka, a
deep bass track that’s easy on the ears. O-Town lends the track We
fit together
. ‘Nuff said. This track actually doesn’t sound like their
standard fare, but that doesn’t mean it’s good either. Two Steps by Jimmy
Cozier
is quite the Craig David influenced song, making it a decent
effort. Flipmode Squad is in the house in a track called What it is.
They should have left the house with their most unrelated track on the album. A
whack effort from Busta and company. LFO and MOP collaborating,
is just wrong in every way imaginable, other than to have a group like MOP
infiltrate more homes. Lil’ Zane and Next offer Lookin’ for
love
. Next. Medeiros ends the festivities with If I knew,
which should be playing at a high school graduation near you, or maybe it’s the
slow song at the end of the night at the club. Either way, it serves its
purpose. Whatever that might be.

Incredibly disappointing, but still
not surprising…all these artists are just filling a line in their contracts.
“Obligatory tracks for a compilation…” or something to that effect. ‘Cuz that’s
how it sounds.
