Hi, my name is Mary J. and I’ve just been blanketed to keep me warm. I’m about to cuddle up to Afrikka’s full lips. Soon, a fire should be started so I can get all toasty while listening to this new Album Afrikka has to review. ‘Chronic Jointz da Hitz, Vol. One‘ has just started with the old school classic: “Cheeba Cheeba“. Man, what a nice groove. I know Tone Loc is an actor now, and was pretty much a one hit wonder, but I’m really feeling this joint -oops- my bad; track.
The album proceeds with such classics as “Hits from the Bong” by Cypress Hill, “Pack the Pipe” by the Pharcyde (a personal fave), and the hard hitting KRS-ONE, “I Can’t wake up“. Also the platinum selling single and club fave,”I Got 5 on it” is included. Other notables I’m enjoying with Afrikka for the evening are: “Sticky Now” by the St. Lunatics – a nice track featuring a simple hynotic bass line – as well as the 2 skits. Kurupt’s “Blast off” skit could most definitely cause someone to trip. It’s wild and psychadelic, very condusive to setting the mood when your Afrikka and I. The Xzibit skit is a relaxing alternative, with its brevity and smooth beat. The two of us appreciate the change.
Before I say my goodbye for the evening, I do have to mention that I did notice that Snoop is noticeably absent from this compilation. You can’t have a good time doing what Afrikka and I enjoy doing together without a little Snoop. As well, there are some tracks that I feel are too busy pushing the subject instead of setting the mood, if you feel what I’m sayin’. But I guess that is why this album has the designation of ‘Vol. One‘, because Afrikka and I know there will be another. Boy, I can’t wait for that. Until next time fellow doobies…
