Young Thug Claims To Have More ‘Stadium Anthems’ Than JAY-Z — Then Snaps Out Of It

Young Thug fell victim to an “insert-foot-in-mouth” scenario on Monday (December 28) on an episode of Gillie Da Kid’s Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast. During their conversation, Thugger was bragging about having 30 or 40 stadium-worthy anthems, slipped up and essentially insulted JAY-Z in the process, saying, “JAY-Z ain’t got 30 songs like that.”

Judging by the look on Gillie’s face, Thug must have realized he said something outlandish and quickly backtracked.

“I’m just saying like, I know he do, he probably got 50 of them bitches,” he sputtered. “I”m not literally saying him. I’m saying n-ggas who you thinking … I seen n-ggas like, ‘Damn, they don’t know this song?’ I’m so scared to get boo’ed, I don’t even perform songs they won’t know.”

With 13 studio albums dating back to 1996, Hov has amassed an arsenal of not only Billboard hits but also celebrated B-sides. Not to mention, he’s sold over 29,179,000 studio albums as of December 2014.

From tracks such as “Brooklyn’s Finest” featuring The Notorious B.I.G. from Jay’s platinum-selling debut Reasonable Doubt to “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)” from 1998’s 5x-platinum album Vol. 2…Hard Knock Life, the Hip Hop mogul’s discography is drowning in anthems.

Young Thug Gets Crucified On Twitter For André 3000 Disrespect

Meanwhile, Young Thug has dropped one solo studio album — the platinum-selling So Much Fun — three EPs and 19 mixtapes. Of those 19 mixtapes, seven of them have charted on the Billboard 200. 2016’s Jeffery peaked at No. 8 and his Super Slimey collaboration with Future landed at No. 2, his highest chart position to date.

Thugger has faired much better on the Billboard Hot 100. Thirty of his songs either as a featured or lead artist have been certified at least gold by the Recording Industry Industry of America (RIAA), while his collaboration with Camila Cabello, “Havana,” was certified 9x-platinum in 2017.

Although Thug attempted to correct his latest feux pas (don’t forget about those André 3000 comments ), the damage was done and Twitter was soon ablaze with comments putting him in check.

Check out some of the reactions below.

    1. In his feelings cuz they wont do a song with him. 3stacks the goat. Hova bruh come on. Thug has maybe a good album. What a joke

    2. I cannot rap one song Young Thug has ever rap. Reasonable Doubt is one of the greatest debut albums ever from any rapper. Guess what, Young Thug wasn’t probably even born when Reasonable Doubt dropped!!!

    3. Bruh trippin. New generation of rappers don’t put enough respect on HOV legacy

But I did vibe with thug when he said money and clout aren’t the same

    4. I know 90% of Hov’s first 3 albums by heart and I prolly ain’t listen to them in like 5 years lol. TF this guy talking bout? Pretty sure I heard something he made, but I honestly can’t name one Young Thug joint. Maybe I’m just a”ol’ head”

    5. Man says one little thing everyone goes up in arms. Hov is that dude, but man come on. Young thug is crazy talented and I don’t blame him for saying what he said. When you in the race, you got the blinders up, who gives a fuuuuk about the next man. Anyone of these twitter journalists talking smack haven’t touched 10 people with their shit. Young thug is on another level.

      1. First let’s not act like u didn’t take my name real talk and ran with it. Posting things like Young Thug is crazy talented.. hahaha Now I heard it all. His whole weak feature catalog is garbage.

    6. Young Thug is a horrible artist probably the worst. Nobody’s listening to his gay ass. Go put that dress back on.

    7. And the “Negro Please” Award goes to!!! Young Thug!!! Oh I cant wait to see how alot of these rappers react when their limelight finally dims and they end up getting disrespected and treated with irrelevance the same way they keeping trying to do to the ones who came before them. It ain’t how hip-hop supposed to be. And when Thug and those like him are finally forced to realize that it’ll be too late.

    8. Pre-Order ‘Adjust The Limelight’ By Deveondi on Amazon and iTunes - Hip Hop Music - www.deveondi.com/music says:

I’ll just LOL at this one.

    9. I actually like some of Young Thug’s music and he does have SOME hits. Thing is a lot of these rappers live in these protected bubbles where they really think they’re bigger than they actually are. Yes like it or not he’s been a trendsetter in hip hop, but on Jay-Z level? Are you fucking crazy? In REALITY an album like Watch the Throne or Black Album has more ‘stadium hits’ than young Thug’s whole career. The man has multiple tours he’s headlined that has literally sold out stadiums across the world
      Get real Thug
