Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Killer Mike & More Move The Crowds At Bonnaroo

Hip Hop had a strong presence at this year’s Bonnaroo, starting with Killer Mike on Thursday (May 13th).

Mike Bigga performed various cuts and promoted his upcoming Run the Jewels collaborative album with El-P. Mike pleased the crowd by performing his verse on OutKast’s “The Whole World,” for which he won a Grammy Award.

On Friday (June 14), Bonnaroo featured its very first “Hip-Hop Superjam,” with DJ Jazzy Jeff, ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar performing cuts.

Solange Knowles was featured in the showcase as well, with her Hip Hop-flavored set including covers of the Fugees’ “Killing Me Softly,” Mos Def’s “Umi Says,” and Ghosface Killah’s “Cherchez La Ghost,” for which Ghostface joined in.

The Wu-Tang Clan was there in nearly full effect, consisting of Ghost, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, and RZA with help from Redman. The legendary Rap collective ran through classics like “C.R.E.A.M.,” and “Triumph,” while Redman and Method Man performed “Part II” from the How High soundtrack, and “Da Rockwilder.”

Nas performed a lengthy set on Saturday (June 15) with DJ Green Lantern manning the wheels of steel. The Hip Hop vet performed most of his Life Is Good album. During his set, Nas took a moment to shout out his own daughter. “Today’s my daughter’s birthday,” said Nas. “She’s 19 today. That’s crazy!” The short speech served as a segue to the track “Daughters.”

    R. Kelly closed out Saturday with a number of his biggest hits, randing from “Ignition (remix)” to “I Believe I Can Fly,” the latter of which required the assistance of inflatable doves.

Day four of Bonnaroo (June 16) included performances from Macklemore, Big K.R.I.T., A$AP Rocky, and others.

    1. “Inspectah Reck.” New member of the Wu-Tang? Or no editing done to the article? C’mon, at least pretend to care.

    2. How is that nearly full-effect with half the damn Clan missing? That’s half-effect. Still wish I was there though.

    3. :As an account for cash money records I have the inside scoop on all of their finances. Birdman pays lil Wayne millions of dollars to keep quiet about the sexual abuse he has been administering since lil Wayne was a little boy. One look in Wayne’s eyes and you can see the tell tale signs of a rape victim. Birdman only let’s Wayne kiss him on the lips after he rinses His semen out of his mouth! That’s not gay! I would let Wayne lick my shithole while I’m jacking off and shitting, all while singing lollipop, with drake providing backup vocals! Young money for life!
