The Weeknd debuted a brand new song during his surprise Coachella performance this weekend — and it’s safe to say the crowd were into it.

The Starboy initially teased the song on Instagram on Thursday (April 13), and premiered it at the conclusion of Metro Boomin’s star-studded Coachella set on Friday night (April 14), which also featured Diddy, Future, John Legend, and 21 Savage.

While the “World’s Most Popular Artist” didn’t reveal the name of the track, it is believed to be titled “Double Fantasy.”

He also gave live debuts to “Escape from L.A.” and “Creepin'” during his surprise set.

During the performance, longtime collaborator Mike Dean played the saxophone as The Weeknd sang: “Temperature rising, bodies united, now that I tried you in my arms/ No need to fight it, no need to hide it, now that I’ve seen what’s in your heart.”

The Weeknd’s Coachella appearance was initially teased by the Toronto superstar on Twitter, when he tweeted out a desert emoji earlier this week followed by a cryptic post asking fans: “Where will you find me?”

He added more fuel to the fire by retweeting a tweet from a fan account claiming: “THE WEEKND WILL PERFORM AT COACHELLA THIS YEAR.”

While Abel headlined Coachella in 2022, this year’s edition will see performances from Frank Ocean, Pusha T, Bad Bunny, Rosalia, Burna Boy, and more.

The Weeknd’s new song is set to appear on his upcoming The Idol Vol. 1, which is slated to be a companion album to his upcoming HBO show.

The Idol has yet to receive an official release date, but it will reportedly premiere in June, so it would make sense for the soundtrack to arrive this summer as well.
