Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame made a nickname for himself both as a soloist and rhyming with Gucci Mane. And while he’s purchased a diamond chain in the likeness of Muppet character Fozzie Bear as a reference to his nickname, Waka is taking things further by partnering with animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. It was announced in February that Waka would participate in PETA’s “Ink Not Mink” campaign, and roughly a month later, he is featured in various, national advertisements.
“First of all, I love animals,” Waka explained in a video posted on the official PETA site. “As a kid I had a dog, fish and iguanas. I had to Google PETA, but I learned about it though.”
Waka Flocka Flame explained that he initially didn’t know which animals were being skinned for various fur coats. But the notion that some of his favorite animals could be killed for the sake of fashion began to trouble him. In addition to participating in “Ink Not Mink,” Waka Flocka Flame says he also avoids eating red meat as well as circuses in efforts to promote animal rights.

If you research a company thoroughly, you can find which ones are most likely dealing “conflict diamonds” (as they now call them) and which ones aren’t.

There’s alot of critics on here callin him “gay” for doin this, or sayin shit like, “What about people, fuck animals”. First off, if you think he’s gay for doin an ad like this, you’re way too homophobic and need to lighten the fuck up, it’s an “ink not mink” campaign that’s suggesting you wear your own skin other than an animals. Also, being for animal rights doesn’t mean you’re not for human rights, it doesn’t mean you’re anti-human. How a person treats animals is a good indicator in determening, “would you leave this person alone with a family member of yours?”. Trust me, there are no humanitarians out there that derive pleasure from the slow, painful slaughter of an animal. My point is, how we treat animals goes hand in hand with how we treat humans. I don’t think this was a very successful ad by viewing these comments as people are talking more bad about this man than the good cause. Any adult that’s into harming animals & its byproducts are set in their ways by now & parents wouldn’t want their children to see this ad, so the message is vague. It seems more like a cry for publicity. Producing a kid friendly live event to promote the PETA is more effective by far. When you fight for something you believe in you take action, not half nude photos.
