J. Cole unleashed his new “Middle Child” single on Wednesday (January 23) and fan theories are already in full swing. Twitter thinks a few lines in particular are clear shots at Kanye West, Pusha T and their drama with Drake.
“This watch came from Drizzy, he gave me a gift/Back when the rap game was prayin’ I’d diss/They act like two legends cannot coexist/But I’d never beef with a nigga for nothin’/But I’d never beef with a nigga for nothin’/If I smoke a rapper, it’s gon’ be legit.
“It won’t be for clout, it won’t be for fame/It won’t be ’cause my shit ain’t sellin’ the same/It won’t be to sell you my latest lil’ sneakers/It won’t be ’cause some nigga slid in my lane,” he raps.
It’s possible Cole is referring to both Pusha and Drake’s beef as well as Kanye’s recent Twitter rant airing out his issues with Drake.
Several people are also tying one of Pusha’s tweets to the whole thing.
“You tried, you failed,” the G.O.O.D. Music president tweeted on Wednesday (January 23). “I’m hearing you wanna try again, this time I’m not gonna play with you, any of you.”
Whether that’s aimed at Drake or Cole remains to be seen.

I listened to all of these artists heavily and negative. Push is one of the best to ever do it and we saw how well Drake faired against him. I think either Drake or Cole could beat Kanye on their own at this point, but Push would give them the win

Kanye over J Cole all day… Coles best work to date is still his come up music lol. I loved that music back in the day, but he gradually got more and more boring, and making music more for the females. Snooze fest. I can’t say Kanye’s last album was bad… I didn’t think I’d like it, but I do.
