Travis Scott Calls Upcoming ‘Utopia’ Album ‘A New Fucking Sound’

Fans are nearly foaming at the mouth for a new Travis Scott album. With the three-year anniversary of Astroworld approaching, Scott provided an update on Utopia during an interview with i-D magazine conducted by Spy Kids director Robert Rodriguez.

La Flame isn’t feeling the pressure of putting out another project, but he wants to push the boundaries of his creativity as far as possible with Utopia, which he sees as the next saga in his career.

“There’s so much more ground I can cover, and I want to cover it, and I love the challenge of it,” he explained. “I want to make a fucking new sound. I might spend days banging my head against a wall trying to figure it out, but once I do it, it’s like ultimate ecstasy.”

Scott continued, “I’m working with some new people and I’m just trying to expand the sound. I’ve been making beats again, rapping on my own beats, just putting everything together and trying to grow it really. That’s been one of the most fun things about working on this album. I’m evolving, collaborating with new people, delivering a whole new sound, a whole new range.”

While spending time in Hawaii crafting Astroworld, Scott has found a new safe haven south of the border in Mexico. He’s brought a team of superstar producers and collaborators with him to the desert to execute his vision under the sun.

“I’m always seeing images of cactuses, and I always had different visions for the actual image of a cactus,” he said of Mexico’s appeal. “So people used to always send me things with an actual cactus on it and I’ll be like, ‘Oh man’. I used to always alter it because I used to be like, ‘Yo, I went out there in the mountain of cactuses. How we have normal trees, there were cactuses, man. A whole army of cactuses.”

The 28-year-old didn’t put an exact timetable on Utopia, but fans can expect it to arrive in 2021.

“It’s coming,” Scott concluded the interview with. “Coming soon. You can bet that.”

La Flame also showed some love to his ragers when he made an appearance at his Cactus Jack pop-up shop on Fairfax in Los Angeles on Tuesday (February 23).

    1. It will be a “Delectable Autotuned and Ad-libbed Garbage Galore” with a sprinkle of every incoherent nonsense rapper that’s available being forcefed down our throats again. Hey, but at least this time it’ll be done mainly through online outlets (McD’s Commercials, Fortnite, Sirius XM, DJs,Music Videos, music streaming services) instead of concerts, clubs, show appearances. So you don’t have to be submitted to the torture live….but then again… watching and hearing him fall off stage in Autotune was hilarious. They could make a whole album from that and I would actually buy that tho lol.

      1. Foh. Travis Scott didn’t release much music in 2020 but all of it was great. Franchise, The Plan, Lithuania, Wash us in the Blood, – all awesome songs, no need to hate

        1. Yeah…no.. Travis Scott has been played out for awhile now. None of those songs are hits in my opinion compared to the ones from his previous albums. He’s been more focused on endorsements and commercial money fully concentrate on the music properly and we’re slowly seeing the results.

          1. Yeah these songs may not be his biggest hits but both Franchise and The Plan are one of my favourite TS songs. I believe he will serve us a good album, even with all this business aside. I am not even a fan of his and the autotune usage. But he makes great songs.
