DJ Paul is suing Travis Scott over the use of Three 6 Mafia’s hit song “Tear Da Club Up” on the Astroworld cut “No Bystanders.”
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Paul has sued Scott for copyright infringement and claims he’s entitled to damages in excess of $20 million.
The Three 6 Mafia co-founder points out Scott’s “Fuck da club up, fuck da club up” hook on “No Bystanders” sounds just like the hook on “Tear Da Club Up.” He further claims the “cadence and sound” of the song are “virtually identical and strikingly similar.”
For reference, Paul highlights the Houston rhymer’s February performance at the 61st Grammy Awards. Scott’s set included a rendition of “No Bystanders” that actually swapped out his Astroworld hook out for the “Tear Da Club Up” version.
Paul claims Scott never asked for consent to use the Three 6 Mafia track. However, the veteran rapper/producer’s name (Paul Beauregard) is listed on the credits for “No Bystanders” on TIDAL.

I found that song to be worse of all on his Astro album
Has he ever heard powerglide?
They have a percentage of that song. The problem is Travis never cleared the sample. He’s lucky its only 20 million and not the whole song
Honest,20 mil is more valuable than the song and its rights…travis is only valued at 22 mil…hip hop don’t pay like it used to
DJ Paul has a retarded left arm.
And still gets more women than you.
Yea and hes rippin off xxxtentacions flow shits corny guys the darker drake
That’s the very first thing I thought when I heard that song.
Dj Paul is one of the most underrated hip hop producers of all time. Travis being from the south I don’t get why he wouldn’t at least make sure Paul got paid. I don’t get the lack of respect and lack of appreciation for the hip hop artist that came before all these new guys.
this fool will let SuicideBoys basically steal that 3 6 flavor… but hes gonna take another Blackman to court over it??? some uncle tom shit if u ask me
Its not a race thing jeez. And this aint bouta get 20 mil out of Suicideboys either lol
wtf, it was so 0bviously an homage to tear the club up that i was sure they cleared the sample
I wish I could sue my boss for 20 mil she has a bad habit of slapping my ass after a meetings.
should have stuck it in her and got that raise!
Lucky Paul didn’t take 100% of the song. Those who saying this is because cuz DJ Paul is broke and shit don’t know how the music business works
This is a lot like when Lupe released Freedom Ain’t Free. It’s a very obvious homage to hip-hop past. The old-heads want respect from the young ones, but even when they try to show love, they’re “doing it wrong” and end up getting a lawsuit. Jay-Z copied an entire Slick Rick song. No one was up in arms about that.
And you stupid af if you don’t think Jay ran that by Slick Rick first. The point is he should have ran it by Paul, how hard would it be to even just make a phone call smh.
Homage and Business don’t mix when you own your shit. That’s like saying I can borrow your shirt without asking just because I fux witchu….nah fam
This song is most effective on stage. Homage and clearance get complicated when the artists sampling is making big M’s and the original act paid many dues and only saw a percentage in their original release. It sounds like a publishing issue and DJ Paul having to take it into his own hands.
Will this kick off the 3-6 Mafia Reunion Tear The Club Up Tour ?
I’m interested to get Juicy J’s take on this as he does a lot of work with Travis Scott. I would imagine he has some publishing rights as well and maybe he gave his blessing for Travis to sample the record without running it by Paul. I know Paul and Juice arent talking as much as they use to but I know they still handle business together when it comes to song and sample clearances so definitely curious to see if Juicy J gets involved at all.
A blessing don’t mean shit unless it’s in writing on an official document. And with both Paul and Juicy being partners then I’m sure Juicy would have obviously told him if that was the case
My name was “Travis Scott sucks dick”….I check back and the admins have removed the word “dick” . Thanks D.X……fucking weirdos
Travis Scott is overhyped TRASH
Paul and juice own everything 50/50 and juicy j is named in the lawsuit so I’m sure he gave the ok to sue, I doubt they have any beef with Travis Scott it’s just the business part against the label
Stole a Bjork sample too
violating copyrights stifles creativity.
