The Weeknd fans will get a chance to see his Hurry Up Tomorrow movie before the masses with a one-night-only screening.

In an Instagram post this week, the Toronto crooner announced the event will take place on May 14, with tickets going on sale April 17.

“Be the first to see the film plus stay after for never-before-seen bonus content. Additionally, a limited run of signed posters and tees are available NOW as part of a ticket bundle,” he wrote.

The film is a tie-in to The Weeknd’s album of the same name, which arrived on the Billboard 200 with a bang back in February. Hurry Up Tomorrow (the movie) is written and directed by Trey Edward Shults and stars Barry Keoghan and Jenna Ortega alongside the singer himself.

It also marks Abel’s feature film debut, and he will also handle the score alongside Daniel Lopatin.

In a statement, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson said: “Abel is a visionary whose art cannot be confined by any single medium. With Hurry Up Tomorrow, in partnership with [director] Trey [Edward Shults], his musical universe expands onto the big screen with a psychological thriller that will usher in a new cinematic experience for fans. We are thrilled to be bringing it to audiences worldwide.”

As for the album Hurry Up Tomorrow, the LP earned 490,500 equivalent album units in its first week – less than 10k units away from going gold. This marks the largest week for any album since Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department moved 2.6 million units in May 2024 , and the biggest week for an R&B/hip-hop album since Travis Scott’s Utopia moved 496k units in August 2023.

This is a significant increase from the XO singer’s last album, 2022’s Dawn FM, which sold 148k the first week and finished at No. 2 on the chart behind Gunna.

Released after a slight delay due to the recent L.A. wildfires, the 22-track (plus two bonus songs) musical odyssey serves as the final installment in the Canadian singer’s trilogy following 2020’s After Hours and the aforementioned Dawn FM in 2022.

It might also be The Weeknd’s final release, period, having been billed as his last album under his stage name, a swan song to one of the defining acts of the last decade.
