The Weeknd has tied Michael Jackson’s longstanding Billboard chart record of being the only artist to have multiple No. 1 hits from numerous albums.

According to Chart Data, both artists are the only individuals in Hot 100 history to achieve such a feat. Michael Jackson garnered multiple No. 1 hits on albums such as 1979’s Off The Wall, 1982’s Thriller, and 1987’s Bad, according to Billboard. Meanwhile, The Weeknd garnered his No. 1 hit records from 2015’s Beauty Behind The Madness, 2016’s Starboy, and 2020’s After Hours, according to Billboard.

The Weeknd scored his seventh No. 1 hit alongside singer Ariana Grande when their 2016 duet “Die For You” jumped to the top of the Hot 100 list on Monday (March 6), according to Chart Data.

Earlier this year, according to Chart Data, The Weeknd broke the all-time record for most monthly global listeners among all artists in Spotify history. 

With 94.734 million monthly listeners, The Weeknd ousted Ed Sheeran who previously had the record with 82.40 million. Other names in the top five include Justin Bieber (81.43m), Taylor Swift (81.21m) and Ariana Grande (77.18m).

The Weeknd also made Billboard chart history with the release of 2022’s Dawn FM. In January of 2022, Billboard tweeted that the Weeknd had 24 songs on the Global 200 chart, six of them coming from the album, including “Sacrifice,” “Take My Breath,” “Gasoline,” “Out of Time,” “Is There Someone Else?” and “How Do I Make You Love Me?.”

The accomplishment makes the Canadian singer the first male artist to have 24 songs on the Global 200 simultaneously. Only Kanye West and Drake trail him with 23 and 22, respectively.

Additionally, The Weeknd also accomplished the very-rare feat of having two albums chart on the Top 10 of the Billboard 200Dawn FM had the No. 2 spot while The Weeknd’s second greatest hits album, 2020’s The Highlights, sat at No. 6 on the 200 chart.
