The Weeknd Disowns Recent “Fake” Mashups

A mashup of The Weeknd’s Starboy track, “Secrets,” and Drake’s More Life track, “Passionfruit,” hit SoundCloud early Wednesday (May 24) — as well as a few music websites — alongside an extended remix of “Tell You Friends,” featuring Kanye West, Nas, Ghostface Killah, Drake, Young Braised and Belly.

There’s one problem — neither were authorized remixes, according to The Weeknd’s official Twitter account.

“[T]his isn’t my soundcloud,” the Canadian R&B star wrote. “We didn’t upload anything. These are fake mashups.”

So far, both remixes have been taken down from SoundCloud. According to Pitchfork, Young Kipper’s “Secrets/Passionfruit” mashup premiered on Drake’s OVO Sound radio show in April, however, there isn’t anyone currently attached to the “Tell Your Friends” remix.

    1. He didn’t say they sucked, only that they weren’t official and that he had nothing to do with them
