The Notorious B.I.G. Among 2020 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees

The 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees have been announced. The Notorious B.I.G. and Whitney Houston are among the select few who will be inducted into the famous Rock Hall on May 2 at Cleveland’s Public Auditorium. Additional inductees include Depeche Mode, the Doobie Brothers, Nine Inch Nails and T. Rex.

Rock Hall inductees are chosen by an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians and members of the music industry. An artist is eligible 25 years after the release of their first single, album or EP. The 2020 class had to have released their first eligible music in 1994 or earlier.

Biggie’s inaugural album, Ready To Die, was released on September 13, 1994. It featured production from Diddy, Easy Mo Bee, Chucky Thompson, DJ Premier and Lord Finesse, among others. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

The Brooklyn Hip Hop legend followed up with 1997’s Life After Death, but he never got to see it hit the shelves. The 24-year-old artist was gunned down in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997, 16 days prior to its release. The project is one of only a handful of Hip Hop albums to be certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

For the first time, the Rock Hall induction ceremony will be broadcast live on HBO at 8 p.m. EST on May 2. Performances and special guests have yet to be announced.

Tickets to the event go on sale to the general public on February 27 at 10 a.m. EST here.

    1. This fat fuck merely dropped two albums in his lifetime and he is granted a goat status?? FOH! He is a good rapper who could rhyme his ass off but he’s still overrated as fuck! Only yes men and sheep put him on a spot he clearly never deserved!

        1. I disagree with that. I think some other rappers that peaked in the early 2000s had some overall better albums. Jay-Z, Maybe Eminem, 50… Dmx! But it’s all just tastes. Biggie, and eminem, are a little bit too horror core for me. Like they rap about raping kids and shit, and that’s just shock value junk. To each their own, but it’s not impressive to me. I’d rather listen to old JayZ, big L, or Big Pun than biggie… Especially Pun!

        2. Fuck no! Some albums made in the last 20 years are way better than any biggie albums. The game the documentary and kendrick lamar good kid maad city are some of them. Biggie was just an overrated rapper whose so called legendary status was made up by bad boy records to counterbalance death row heavy hitters back in the late 90s. I aint buyin this shit.

      1. No one can say whether he deserved it or not because he died prematurely. We just won’t ever know, so shit just man just enjoy the music he made if you fuck with him.

      2. It’s the Gay Pac Obsessed SnitchNine Bashing Self hating homophobe back again to bash Biggie’s legacy this time since his wienie don’t work no more…lol.
Told you..it’s ok. We get it, you’re gay, angry and hostile…Go join the Log Cabin Republicans and Go to a Clay Aiken and Lady Gaga concert and STFU.

        1. Most gay comment ever. Since you’re making such an issue about being gay I can only assume that you’re the queer LMAO!

          1. Say the guy who calls himself shit probably cuz you like getting your shit pushed in..lol…Still in denial I see. That’s okay, they do say that the angry gays are usually the most emotional lol

            1. Well you’re the one talkin bout it so you definitely must be the one who knows about it… I just gave my two cents about a rapper and you replied with gay comments. Nuff said.

            2. No you obsessed over thinking Pac was gay, which kinda makes you a delusional fruitcake for even suggesting it.

      3. So many rappers, past and present, idolize Biggie. There is a reason. The Documentary is great but it’s not as well round an album as Ready to Die. And GKMC?

    2. no rap or hip hop artist has any business on this hall of fame. Sad they’ve been doing this for years. What if it was the other way around? And rock bands were inducted into the hip hop hall of fame lol this is complete fuckery

        1. No they aren’t lol. That’s like saying Katy Perry is a rock star too then. Or Justin Bieber. BS. I love hiphop, clearly, but Rock n Roll is a whole different vibe. Rockstars lived much wilder lives than rap stars. Rockstar parties aren’t the same as hiphop parties… Not at all. Rock was always crazier. I’ve been to dozens of rap shows and rock shows… Rock usually has the wilder shows. The sounds made by those instruments and signers usually creates a wilder feeling. Rap is fun too, but not the same as a full band.

          1. Yeah.. in like the 80’s. Today and for the last 20+ years, rappers have been living the wilder lifestyles.

      1. Rock & Roll is a genre of music black people created in the 50s. It is not rock music. Heavy metal and other forms of rock music getting inducted is the same as hip hop or reggae or funk music getting inducted. No difference. None of it is rock & roll. But they all are children of rock & roll music

      2. Have you looked at the list of inductees? They haven’t all made rock n roll music. It goes back a long way.

    3. The ready to die intro gives me fuckin chills to this day. “Wont see me up in this mofucca no more. I got big plans nicca, big plans. hahaaaaa”
