The Game has reached a settlement in the lawsuit over the cover art for his “Ryda” single with DeJ Loaf.
According to the Jasmine Brand, Ariza Obey filed documents Tuesday (March 22), to say that he is no longer pursuing legal action against the Compton, California rapper and is dismissing the case.
Obey sued The Game in August because the “Ryda” artwork starkly resembled a photo he posted to his Instagram of a man and woman embracing each other holding guns outwards. He claims that The Documentary 2 rapper was likely to see it because of a series of mutual connections and the original image’s popularity on the social media site.
The Game has an ongoing lawsuit from a woman who claimed he sexually assaulted her and, in another case, lost a default judgment and must pay $100,000 to an off-duty police officer whom he punched during a basketball game.

The Game is being sued by rapper and designer Ariza Obey over the artwork for “Ryda,” his single with Dej Loaf, according to TMZ.
Obey is saying that The Game stole his black and white photograph. The image shows himself holding a woman with their arms holding gold guns pointing in opposite directions. Obey has multiple black and white images from the shoot on his Instagram page showing himself and the woman with various gold accents.
Obey says that he first posted the gun image on Instagram in 2014 and that The Game likely came across the image through a series of mutual connections.
The Game’s “Ryda” art shows a similar image of a man holding onto a woman, but in a brown tone.

It is the exact same image just with a brown tone, not a re-creation of the image by Obey. Obey’s image may be inspired by a movie scene, but Game has actually taken Obey’s photo and used it for his own purposes without permission. Look at the tat’s on the guy. Same image. Game could have at least asked for permission to use it, or just not been so lazy and paid to shoot his own original cover art. Perhaps he can do the right thing and pay Obey/Obey’s Photographer for the image and then get Obey/Obey’s photographer to shoot something original for him.
yo it ain’t the game who handles all that, his team do it ,
he just approved it.
This song was so horrible, it damaged the reputation of the copyright holder. The Game’s released two singles, both have flopped horribly. The Documentary 2 still has no distribution deal and labels wants nothing to do with The Game. Time for him to see a real “Doctor” everyone’s done with this crazy lost soul.
