The Game Takes Shot At J. Cole While Criticizing ‘Watered Down’ Rap Beef

The Game has taken a shot at J. Cole for apologizing to Kendrick Lamar and what he perceives as “watered down” rap feuds.

The Compton native, who is no stranger to beef having sparred with the likes of 50 Cent, JAY-Z, Meek Mill and Eminem, was reacting to a post from The Joe Budden Podcast co-host Lamar “Ice” Burney.

“I want one of these rap n-ggas to diss Game. Just so ya’ll can see what a proper diss record looks like,” Ice wrote on X (formerly Twitter) following the release of Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss song “Euphoria.”

The Game, who has collaborated with Cole, Kendrick and Drake, responded by reminding fans of his pedigree when it comes to rap beef.

“Cause my level of disrespect has no limit & I can actually rap rap,” he wrote. “Fans gone choose up with whatever artist is currently safe for the culture to love as a whole but every real rap nigga in this shit KNOW who to play with & who not to.

“Hip hop/Rap or whatever yall calling it these days was already watered down, then Cole apologized and turned this shit into Kool-Aid wit no sugar.”

He also said on his Instagram Stories: “Idk who softer these days these rap n-ggas or the rap fans.”

The Game previously weighed in on the long-running rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar during an interview with HipHopDX in 2022.

Addressing the notion that the 6 God took shots at K. Dot on their collaboration “100,” he said: “I didn’t feel like that. And if I did, I wouldn’t have put the song out. Like I said, Kendrick’s my brother — I love him too. But if Drake was subliminal and slipped something in, again, he’s one of the best to ever do it, so it’s Hip Hop.

“Even Kendrick is lyrically equipped to catch any stray and return fire, so I think at the end of the day, it’s all good Hip Hop. It ain’t like Kendrick and Drake are about to go into a street war or something like that.”

When asked who would win in a rap battle, he replied: “Who I got? Lyrically? I don’t know, man. Kendrick is just too fucking incredible. And then Drake is so dope too, man. I mean, I would just like to be a fan of the moment and sit back and watch two of the greatest artists of all time have a go.”

The Game is also far from the only rap figure to take issue with J. Cole for apologizing to Kendrick for dissing him on “7 Minute Drill,” which came in response to the Pulitzer Prize winner’s fiery verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.”

His former G-Unit label boss 50 Cent also seemed unimpressed by the Dreamville rap star bowing out of the battle, writing on Instagram: “WTF how I miss this, @realcoleworld call my phone right now!”

    1. Cole needs to smoke his a$$. He had love for k. Dot but he should treat all these other clout chasers like lunch

    2. Is The Game even worth his weight in gold or even in bronze? Sorry, dude. Sit down and be humble. Haha

      1. Probably not. He’s likely about 200lbs, gold is $2,400 an oz, so a LB is $38,400, so 200lbs would be worth $7,680,000.

    3. Game never ended anyone’s careers. His diss records did nothing for the culture. He just sounded like a disgruntled employee rambling about his miserable life at work. Once G-Unit popularity diminished, so did Game’s bc he had no one to diss.

      1. If anything it fucked up his career. He’s never reached those highs again, and you think of the bullshit more than his talent. But Game is bipolar or some shit, so it is what it is.

      2. Let’s see that list of how many artists career has been ended from a diss song LOL short list

      3. Ether retired Jay Z. Back Down retired Ja Rule. T.I. retired Flip. Hit Em Up retired Pac. EASY!

      4. @TONY DEFF Ether didn’t retire JayZ. His second top selling album, and a fan favorite “the black album” came two years later, 2003. Back Down didn’t retire Ja Rule. His album “R.U.L.E. was a huge success. What retired Ja Rule had more to do with legal problems than rap beef. Hit Em Up likely did help lead to Pacs demise. He asked for trouble and he got it. Idk about TI and Flip. Never was really into that Southside rap.

      5. You definitely are right on those. People don’t really understand what really happened they just run with their own narratives that make them feel good. Jay got crushed by Nas, to us pure rap/hip hop heads he lost, but from a mainstream standpoint he became even bigger the following years. Ja Rule suffered from his label going through legal issues to were they couldn’t spend any money to promote the records that killed their entire label completely. T.I didn’t retire Lil Flip, Flip over achieved, he was a independent artist that struck gold with mainstream success. Flip hit his ceiling he had some platinum and gold songs and platinum albums that set him up to get paid for life off of rap. Also T.I and his people got beat up when he went to Houston and tried to Flex on Lil Flip.

    4. Remember when game wrote that long ass Eminem diss called the black slim shady that was so corny Eminem didn’t even bother to respond? Yeah, me neither.

      1. BS. Ove heard MANY Game songs. He is so lyrical. He mentioned Dr Dre, Snoop, Em, Jay, Nas, Big L, Big Pun, Biggie, JayZ, dmx, Ludacris, pac, kendrick, Trump, Biden, Jesus, 50 cent, Yayo, Bucks, and MORE in ONE SINGLE SONG! It takes seriously talent to name drop like that! Hell, I forgot who most of them were until Game told me, with his extremely superior mental state that can clearly remember rappers of the past. It’s quite amazing. Name dropping ISN’T EASY!

    5. Game doesn’t have pedigree in rap beefs. Most rappers just ignore him for the bipolar, attention seeking groupie that he is. I’ll give him some credit, he went in on the G-Unit beef. But has already been said below, once that wave was over, so was Game’s.

    6. J Cole is a boring rapper, hands down. Its funny this year instead of seeing more rappers lose their lives, were seeing the corny pop rappers try their hand at thuggin on wax.

    7. At least J. Cole don’t front to be one of those “I’ll shoot your booty all day” type of rappers; but then they are nothing but studio gangstas with alter egos and with no real gang affiliation. J. Cole is real lyrical.

    8. The game has not been relevant since hate it or love it 25 years ago. this his one attempt to be relevant

    9. He’s not wrong. This new “Beef” could not possibly be more lame. It’s not real beef and they aren’t putting out anything very good to boot. Incredibly lame.

    10. The G-Unot freestyle he did when they all fell out was fire. He scorched all of em. Take a listen on somewhere I’m sure they got it it’s off top and pretty ruthless. Dot should have smashed harder if Drizzy hits back like all crazy it’s over 3-1 Drake on the judges card💯

    11. He ain’t wrong though. Lately the beefs sound soft. When you compare it to tracks like no vaseline..ether..canibus Vs LL. These new disses sound weak.

    12. Bruh this the same dude who said anyone disrespecting nip he gonna deal with but his man’s disrespects dude on the daily Foh clown

    13. Why are y’all making this news? Did he pay y’all to put this up??? The game has fucked yup his own career with his own mentor doctor dre and now he wants to chime in with a paid for article… I SEE THRU THIS… BUM!

    14. Why are y’all making this news? Did he pay y’all to put this up??? The game has fucked yup his own career with his own mentor doctor dre and now he wants to chime in with a paid for article… I SEE THRU THIS… BUM!

    15. cole and game would be a good one, but i think cole would be too shook to digg deep and really call out the game, Theres so much dirt on the game cole would have field day of angles to kill him. but he wont, These lame college kids rap now they just wanna find dirt and pillow talk in beef, I MISS THE BEANIE SIGEL AND KISS DAYS

    16. Game need to sit his ass down somewhere with them weak raps you got. Your music is not even half as good as Cole’s, you couldn’t even end meek mill. In my opinion the only hot song you have is ‘My life’ with Wayne and he made that hot. J Cole did what he felt was right for his spirit that’s real to me instead of tryin to satisfy other people who just want to see drama. J Cole makes good music That’s What Matters. DO WHATS RIGHT FOR YOUR SPIRIT. Let Cole do what he do.
