The Game says that he called Drake for a specific type of record for his forthcoming The Documentary 2 album, which is due in stores October 9.
“All his biggest records like in the beginning were geared towards women,” The Game says during an interview with HotNewHipHop. “So, whenever you think Drake, you’re like, ‘Yo let me go to Drake and get a radio single real quick.’ And then when I went to Drake, he was like, ‘Yo, man, I don’t wanna give you that. I want to do some Hip Hop, you know something cool, something real. So we got the ‘100’ beat and we just went in, man.”
The Game felt strongly enough about The Documentary 2 track to make a video for it. He and Drake went to The Game’s hometown of Compton, California to film the clip.
“All day, Drake just kept saying, ‘Man, I can’t believe I’m on Black Wall Street, man. I can’t believe I’m in Compton, man. This is dope,’” The Game says. “He was like, ‘I was a kid in Toronto [and I] just wanted to like be there and now I’m here,’ so I think he had more fun than anybody else, man. But the hood really embraced him. We got in. We got out and everything was dope, man.”
