Tekashi 6ix9ine is all about numbers and according to early projections by HitsDailyDouble, the Brooklyn rapper is on course to have his first No. 1 Billboard 200 album.
6ix9ine’s TattleTales is on pace to sell roughly 150,000 equivalent album units, easily outpacing Big Sean’s recently released Detroit 2 album.
Following the release of 2018’s Dummy Boy, 6ix9ine had issues with how Billboard counted his album when up against Travis Scott’s Astroworld. The discrepancy in final count resulted in Billboard having to release a statement, proclaiming Astroworld had firmly outsold 6ix9ine’s Dummy Boy, contrary to earlier reports.
Billboard said, “In a historically close race, after a rigorous review of the process and the methodology by which the No. 1 ranking on last week’s Billboard 200 album chart was awarded to Travis Scott’s ‘Astroworld,’ we concluded that no correction was warranted.

Aside from trolling other artists over their respective sales, 6ix9ine still has an issue with certain streaming services when it comes to promoting TattleTales. On Friday (September 4), the rainbow-haired rapper blasted Spotify and Apple Music for not placing the album among playlists featuring new releases from SZA, Big Sean and more.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, 6ix9ine stated he feels the industry as a whole is scared to work with him due to fears of repercussions in the streets.
“I feel like it’s a fear, because remember, everybody has to abide by a street code, right?” he told the Times. “But the industry is not street. I feel like the executives think they’re Nine Trey gangsters. These executives feel like they owe something to the streets. It’s the most stupidest thing in the world.”
