TDE’s Punch Provides Update On ScHoolboy Q Following Mac Miller’s Death

While he didn’t say much, Punch gave an update on ScHoolboy Q’s mental state following the death of close friend and collaborator Mac Miller. The TDE president took to Twitter on Sunday (September 9) to reveal, “Q good.”

Q appeared on tracks such as the Chuck Inglish-produced “Gees” from Miller’s 2013 album Watching Movies With Sound Off , “Friends” from the late Pittsburgh-bred artist’s 2014 follow-up Faces and the previously unreleased Pete Rock-produced song “Melt.”

In an old interview with MTV, Miller referred to Q as his “family.”

Sway Calloway, who was conducting the interview, pulled up some footage from a recent interview with Q.

In a clip, Q is asked to say the first thing that comes to his mind when he sees a certain image. When Miller’s photo pops up, he says, “The ugliest white man ever and he’s pretty wack too.”

He quickly adds, “Nah, that’s my brother.”

Miller passed away on Friday (September 7) of a suspected drug overdose. Since then, seemingly countless peers have expressed their condolences on social media, including J. Cole, Thundercat, Snoop Dogg, J.I.D, Post Malone, Pusha T and Jaden Smith.

A vigil is planned for Tuesday (September 11) at Blue Slide Park in Miller’s hometown of Pittsburgh. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

    1. Tde isn’t what they used to be. Sure, still good music. But in 2012 and prior, they were making hiphop classics. Nobody can convince me that knedricks new stuff touches his old work. Q has stayed consistently great. Absoul fell off hard. Past two albums suck compared to control systen. Jay rocks redemption is his worst effort yet, his best being Follow Me Home.

      1. Follow Me Home was a Strange Music release at the time Kendrick was Jay Rocks hype man as he was supposed to be TDE’S front runner. Crazy how things change

    2. Not one person reached out for an intervention huh?? All these guys sip and sniff who knows what but once someone Od’s It’s the OMG not him…. I’m in shock jibberish.

    3. Mac Miller God bless & thank you for your music it was a blessing…may your soul be free & travel freely with GOD…1 ❤

      Brother

    4. To Schoolboy Q & the Black Hippie Crew…from the bottom of my heart stay off the hard drugs, I don’t want no more talented artists dying from ODing or even getting shot…many more albums of great music must be heard! God bless & 1 ❤ to U all!
