Taraji P. Henson Berates 50 Cent For His Treatment Of ‘Empire’ During T.I. Podcast

Actress Taraji P. Henson sat down with T.I. for a recent episode of his expediTIously podcast called “Shooting The Sh*t.” Tip shared a video clip of the interview on his Instagram account this week, which finds Henson berating 50 Cent for his constant negativity surrounding her hit show Empire.

Fiddy, of course, is the mastermind behind the STARZ drama Power and appears to be in competition with the long running FOX series.

“Our show has nothing to do with his show,” she says. “We’re talking two different subject matters. Then again 50, do you know what the fuck I had to do to get here? Why tear down another black person? For competition? There are a million other shows you can compete with. To do that publicly? It’s embarrassing.” [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

50 has taken several stabs at Empire over the years. In 2014, the veteran rapper accused Empire of biting Power. Then in September 2016, Henson deflected more of 50’s criticisms with an Instagram post about the show’s ratings, while clowning him in the process.

“For the confused ppl. Do REAL research!!!” she captioned the post. “Loose change makes sooooooo much UNNECESSARY NOISE. STILL LOOKING FOR THAT DAMN CENT SIGN!!! I guess it’s obsolete. AGAIN CONGRATS ON YOUR SUCCESS BLACK MAN!!! @50cent.”

As described on the Apple Music website, Tip and Henson also discuss “her incredible work ethic, the current challenges for black women in entertainment and inspiring people thru her many roles from Cookie to Yvette . She talks about her struggles with depression and the importance of mental health.”

    1. Why bring this shit up again? TI got Nick Cannon set up to get shit on now Taraji gonna get it from 50. He should call this show “Let’s get shit started again”.

    2. “Then again 50, do you know what the fuck I had to do to get here?” — Well now she’s got me curious.

      1. Because blacks would benefit from supporting one another in general, but especially in a nation (and world) that has worked (and still does in many ways) to oppress.

I think that’s her point. Could be wrong, though.

        1. They need to get over it. The Chinese helped built our railroads as indentured servants and they don’t still bitch about it decades later. We still have Natives living in reservations, go talk to them about complaints lol. Taraji is just racist.

    3. Let me just drop some facts real quick in case you wanna better yourself
1.A sneeze travels 100 miles an hour
      FACT
      2. A sheep a duck and a rooster were the first passengers on a hot air balloon.
      FACT
3.slugs have 3,000 Teeth and four noses
      Fact!!!!!!!
So there you go if you don’t know now you know.

    4. Didn’t empire come out before power? Which part in the shows were anyone was biting. They have different concepts.

      1. Power premiered June 7, 2014. Empire began January 7, 2015 so no, Empire did not come out before Power. The only real similarities I saw were the street guy trying to go legit thing. Then again I only watched maybe the first 4 episodes of Empire and stopped because it was a little to Gay for my tastes.

        1. Empire was cool but real gangsters are in Power. The plot is better for someone who has been in his shoes are trying to get their. Power is number one in my eyes.

    5. Black people always see it as “tearing down another black person”. But white people tearing down other white people don’t see it as any race based thing at all. Just human. But asking 50 why he’s an asshole is a stupid question haha

      1. White ppl dont need to use race. If its competition we either step up or fail. But we dont need 2 bring a whole race or gender into our beefs and issues. well handle or wont handle it like men mostly(id say white woman too but they live for being victims so they dont fit in w alphas)

    6. She got the race card and woman card. She must be living nice those are 2 great fall back cards when things dont go ur wY

    7. Oh we heard what you did to get your role, Taraji. We heard you slept with a small little j3// ish man AKA “your manager”. We get why you’re so bitter lol! Now go protect yo boi Juicy Smolleeè.

    8. This whole idea that you can never tell the truth about another black person is pure nonsense. Brainwashed BS. You sensitive mfers are living in a bubble.

    9. Lol at her going on TI’s podcast and talking like a ghetto hoodrat ABF to get her point across like anybody is going to take that seriously.

    10. It’s always the “tearing down another black person” excuse…So black just sides with black no matter what? Switch the color and you got a KKK Credo. Yet we never make that connection…let me guess it’s cuz black people don’t have the power to oppress anybody right? Does that make them inferior? Sorry Taraji, love you and all but this shit is embarrassing

    11. There’s no two #1’s somebody HAS to lose, it’s a competition, Im not promoting your brand, I want your brand to fold, so I can capture your market share. It’s business never personal.

      1. It’s not a competition. One is a cable TV show which is pay to play and the other is network broadcasting, which is free TV.
