T.I. Issues Cancellations To Gucci, Prada & Moncler & Offers Up Black-Owned Alternatives

Aftershocks following the Gucci blackface backlash are still being felt now that T.I. has gotten wind of the controversy.

The Trouble Man has taken it upon himself to launch a crusade against luxury fashion brands with racist overtones and not only called out Gucci but Prada and Moncler for various pieces that depict African American caricatures.

“As a 7 figure/yr customer & long time supporter of your brand I must say…Y’all GOT US fucked UP!!!” T.I. bellowed on Instagram. APOLOGY NOT ACCEPTED!!!! We ain’t going for this “oops my bad I didn’t mean to be racist and disrespectful towards your people” shit!!! Y’all knew wtf y’all was doin and WE AINT GOING FOR IT!!! We ALL GOTTA Stop buying, wearing, and supporting this piece of shit company And ALL PIECE OF SHIT COMPANIES UNTIL THEY LEARN TO RESPECT OUR DOLLARS & VALUE OUR BUSINESS!!!! Our culture RUNS THIS SHIT!!!

We (People of color) spend $1.25 TRILLION/year (but are the least respected and the least included)and if we stop buying ANYTHING they MUST correct any and ALL of our concerns. That’s THE ONLY WAY we can get some RESPECT PUT ON OUR NAME!!!! I Don’t Give a Fuck if I gotta wear Target brand shit…. #FuckGucci”

But the vocal rap star didn’t end with dragging Gucci’s name in the bargain bin. He called out both Prada and Moncler for similar themed Jim Crow drip.

On Wednesday (February 6), Gucci issued an apology after an $890 sweater that was overwhelmingly perceived to resemble a person in blackface.

Spike Lee and Soulja Boy (who has now vowed to rock Fendi in favor of his Gucci headband he popularized on The Breakfast Club) also joined the boycott, amongst thousands who felt like the mea culpa simply wasn’t good enough.

To compensate for the once beloved Hip Hop brand, T.I. took to Instagram to big up several black-owned clothing lines, including his own veteran fashion house, Akoo.

    1. Does he also suggest drippings glock, Ingram, Bushmasters and all of those weapon companies he was repping when he got arrested for having? You know those illegal weapons were for warring off the white man! Sarcasm. What a hypocrite dindu idiot. Fuck TI. Why does anyone even pay attention to this moron.

      1. Why are you trying to turn something that could be potentially positive for the culture into the blame game. You sound like you have too much malice in your heart to step outside your self to make a real difference. TODAY that black man is speaking on some real shit, and instead of agreeing or at the very least, being agreeable, you’re recourse is to point out things that TI did BACK IN THE DAY. What’s your issue with him for real for real?

    2. This can be addressed at the Hip Hop Fashion Week if these Vixens start campaign for it who’s apart of the boutique movement ! Song of The Day OutKast ( Si Fresh So Clean )

      1. NO WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE IS JEALOUSY! YOU FCKIN HILLBILLY !! QUIET FOOL NO ONE CARES WHAT YOUR BROKE ASS THINKS!! AN OPEN SOME WINDOWS IN THAT TRAILER! THE LACK OF OXYGEN MAKES YOU GOOFY! ?????✊✊✊

    3. TI is fucking delusional and pretty much just a whiny bitch at this point.

Boycotts this but supports Nike who actually own fucking slaves today, who actually operate sweatshops today this is just more self indulgent outrage from hypocrites.

    4. Maybe stop advocating violence and selling drugs in your music. Stop doing shit that makes you end up in prison. Maybe that will help the community more than not wearing clothing. Victimhood culture.

        1. He been promoting social injustice with his misogynistic materialistic violent trap promoting music too. Good move by him for this, but all in all he’s very late to the woke party and a strong contributor to the problem.

        2. Rob, you’re a fool. All of your comments here demonstrate that. Try doing something useful in the community if you care so much. You’re just a SJW with twitter fingers like the rest of them.

    5. T.I. (Typical Idiot) is silent about the baby killers in Virginia dressing up in blackface and KKK garb. Odd, he’s such a social justice warrrior. Why isn’t he calling for action where it counts instead of boycotting some shitty clothes only rich asses can afford?

    6. I went and bought a 800 dollar shirt from Signature TOIDI when i saw the blatant disrespect. Had to support black luxury.

    7. $800 for a ugly sweater? Damn Gucci hustling people with $800 I can buy a gang of 501s Levi’s jeans, a gang of pro club Ts, and a couple of kicks. The rest I’ll hit up the bookstore. Cop me some books.

    8. The best thing TI said was promoting the other brands giving consumers an alternative they never knew existed. Usually people will tell you to boycott without giving an alternative. Big up Ti for this

      1. Imagine equating T.I.s hypocrisy, with your community’s demand that if you have black skin you need to be a democrat. #Don’t think for yourself.

    9. I get that people are upset over the images that Gucci has recently put out.
What I don’t get is how TI justifies his Grand Hustle brand that promotes murder and drug dealing while saying N/&&a 18 times in one bar.
If one wants to make a change in this world then they must first start by changing themselves. If you truly want Black Lives to Matter then start showing more respect to your own people Tip.

    10. Shout out to the article author for saying “Jim Crow drip” lmao Smh

In other news, the negative comments thrown at T.I. in this comments section also believe Rosanne Barr did nothing wrong. Think about that. Use your eyes, not your pride to see. Peace be upon you. ggs

      1. Haha. You actually think Roseanne said what she said out of racism. Too much mainstream media for you.

    11. For the next 3 months only??? How about don’t buy it at all and while you’re at it, get rid of all your designer clothing and start supporting your local clothing designers.

      1. There is no such thing as “slightest offense” when it comes to showing, expressing or promoting racism. Especially when a company is trying to make a $ out of it. With access to the internet, Gucci should of done their research before putting out that item.

    12. There are so many black fashion brands to choose from nowadays. no need to add money in white racist European fashion brands

    13. can we close Instagram and Twitter so TIP doesn’t have a platform to be a bitch ass anymore please .. and where can I purchase my Gucci from ..

worlds gone nuts why everything always so serious and offensive.. if Gucci didnt make diverse clothing everyone would be hating on it to

suck a dick TIP and yo hoe ass hood rat bitch tiny

    14. Noboby should be buying 300 dollar jeans and 40 dollars boxers! Things you don’t need in life. Go put that money towards something important

    15. Fashion is for females. Boycott or not, stop and ask why grown men walk around with brand name purses and gear they can’t afford…

    16. I commend T.I. for his stance but boycotting Gucci for 3 months isn’t enough. Why don’t you all (celebrities) stop buying that bullshit all together? That makes more sense. That will send a louder message.

      1. Cuz we need progress. These labels reach so many fkinn ppl in the world. Especially fans of HipHop. Killing the brand doesnt really help any cause. But those same brands seeing the problem and working 2 solve it pushes things the right way. And 2day we need examples of change over hate more than ever. But the system of this shit needs 2 catch up with the culture. If these brands don’t update and get our ppl in there, then will have 2 be an allout boycott.

    17. Question why 3 months, js they can afford to wait it out lls and tbh they don’t give af about black people we know this but we care about them and will continue to support them along with others such as Tim’s Levi’s hilfiger and a host of other White own companies who gives 2 shits about black people and will continue to not give af

    18. have any of you actually seen the prices of Gucci etc…? even I can’t afford it and I have a fair bit of money. when blacks are going to be so alarmist like this it can get dangerous. what an overreaction t.i. comes across as a five year old having a wobbly.

    19. May I suggest RichKid coughing line??? It’s a black owned business that is based out of NY! The offer amazing quality and comfort!!! RichKidmoneybear.com
