When State Property reunited with JAY-Z on stage at his B-Sides concert in 2015, many thought this would lead to new music – but Young Chris has revealed exactly why nothing else ever came of the moment.

Appearing on a new episode of Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast published on Wednesday (December 4), Chris revisited the TIDAL show, which found Hov bringing out Beanie Sigel, Young Gunz and Freeway.

When asked what the next day was like, Chris shrugged and said, “We went right back to the regularly scheduled program.”

Probed for more, he elaborated, “H-O[V] said, and you can ask Free. I remember this blatantly. He told n-ggas – because you never know where he was going with that or if it was a test – ‘Do a record. Everybody do like four to eight [bars] on it and send it to me.’ We never did the record. You’d have to ask the other members [why it didn’t happen.] I know me and Free was talking about the shit. We just never got it done. I don’t know, man. Everybody wasn’t on the same page.”

He then called Freeway on FaceTime, who added: “He said, ‘Go to the studio, y’all start cooking up and I’ma meet y’all there.’ N-ggas went to a fucking party, Rihanna was there and shit. N-ggas wanted to fucking party. Nobody wanted to [record].”

Despite the lack of musical output, the State Property guys once again reunited earlier this year for Beanie Sigel’s 25th anniversary show for his album The Truth.

The LOX were also on the bill – which came as a pleasant surprise to some fans, considering the history between the two crews.

Last year, the “Feel It In The Air” rapper recounted his beef with The LOX, in particular the time Jadakiss got angry at State Property’s infamous Hot 97 freestyle diss at the height of their rivalry in 2002.

Sheek Louch had also shared the story during a talk with Vlad and explained that Kiss was so aggravated with the freestyle that he grabbed his gun and wanted to head to Hot 97 to deal with the situation in person.

According to Beans, that was the reaction his crew wanted, as they were from Philadelphia and wanted to prove themselves to their New York counterparts. Funk Flex didn’t make the situation any better either, as he told Beanie, Freeway, and the rest of State Property to go in with the freestyle.

“I think probably the initial drive is that we was from Philly and Flex was like, ‘Kill them n-ggas,’” Beans said. “I mean, I’m glad it didn’t go there, but that’s the reaction you want, though, yeah we had to do that. They gonna one and done n-ggas so it’s like you gotta be relentless.”

Sigel also revealed that whole beef started because JAY-Z served a couple of subliminal shots at Jadakiss on the remix to R. Kelly’s “Fiesta.”

“Kiss had that record. He was on that R. Kelly record,” Beans said about the original “Fiesta” track. “He didn’t take a shot at me. Jay took a shot at them. ‘After the party it’s the hotel lobby … and after the original it’s probably this.’ That ‘Fiesta’ joint. Kiss and them was on that joint first.”
