Snoop Dogg Calls Out Grammys For Snubbing Him His Whole Career

Snoop Dogg has become the latest rapper to call out the Grammys for consistently snubbing him.

On Monday (February 6), Tha Doggfather took to Instagram to vent his frustration with the Recording Academy for having never awarded him a golden gramophone throughout his legendary 30-year career.

In his post, Snoop screenshotted a tweet listing the rappers with the most Grammy wins, which included JAY-Z (24), Kanye West (24), Kendrick Lamar (17), Eminem (15) and Pharrell (13).

In his caption, the Long Beach native reminded folks he has yet to join that illustrious list having received precisely zero Grammys, despite picking up more than a dozen nominations over the years.

“Snoop dogg. 20 nominations. 0 wins,” he wrote along with a sarcastic applause emoji.

Snoop Dogg has been nominated in several Grammys categories including Best Rap Song (“Drop It Like It’s Hot,” 2005), Best Rap Solo Performance (“Gin and Juice,” 1995), Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (“Beautiful,” 2004) and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group (“”Still D.R.E.,” 2000).

He has also earned two nods in the coveted Album of the Year category thanks to his contributions to Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly and Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream, while his Reincarnated LP (which was released under the name Snoop Lion) was up for Best Reggae Album in 2014.

Snoop currently leads the pack when it comes to rappers with the most nominations and no wins, a list that features other overlooked legends such as 2Pac, Biggie, Nicki Minaj, DMX, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross and Pusha T. Nas was also part of that group until he snagged his first Grammy in 2021 when King’s Disease won Best Rap Album.

Snoop Dogg is far from the first rapper to have criticized the Recording Academy. JAY-Z has been one of the most vocal critics, going as far as calling them out on his 2018 track “Apeshit” after his 4:44 album went home empty handed at that year’s Grammy Awards.

“Tell the Grammy’s fuck that 0 for eight shit,” he rapped on the Pharrell-produced banger, taken from his and Beyoncé‘s Everything Is Love project.

Hov addressed past issues with the Grammys in a rare interview with TIDAL earlier this week, admitting it hurts when they get it wrong because of their importance in pop culture.

The truth is, we grew up wanting to be on the Grammys, and it was our goal. We just want them to get it right. That’s what we want,” he said. “Obviously it’s music and it’s all subjective, but you got to be in the ballpark. That’s all we want. We just want them to get it right because we love it so much.”

He added: “For the culture, I love this shit so much I want them to get it right. I want to experience those moments when it’s the culmination of when Michael popped off. That moment left an indelible mark on us forever.”

JAY-Z made his return to the Grammys stage on Sunday (February 5), where he performed his iconic four-minute “God Did” verse alongside DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, John Legend and Fridayy.

    1. another black person whining about the grammys..black people are so emotionally and mentally soft now adays it’s getting pathetic

      1. Why are you people always in black people’s business? The only person that emotionally and mentally soft is your punk ass. Shut the hell up bitch.

    2. another black person whining about the grammys..black people are so emotionally and mentally soft now adays it’s getting pathetic

      1. Maybe it’s because the entire race has been taken advantage of for…..let me see….well forever. Your a troll. Stop spreading negative. Get a hobby.

      2. Not really is not 1960 no more the entire race gets nothing but privileged laws designed specifically for them and entire representation every show bc uk they’ll complain all day if they don’t.. so no you are not victims like you
love to male the world think.. esp these MILLIONAIRES
        . Pathetic mindset

      3. “Since forever”. I thought they was kangz n sheet tho? Definitely not since forever lol. Life is a pendulum. Also, don’t complain about anyone being taken advantage of if you buy into that with your money, such as buying a smart phone produced in Chinese labor camps by minority slaves, or drive an electric car with cobalt mined by children in Africa, and so on. I don’t wanna hear anyone in America complain about how evil slavery is if they KNOW they own goods produced under conditions we all agree are highly immoral, inhumane, and evil, yet still say “oh well, I wanna own that nice piece of tech to enjoy”.

    3. “Tell the Grammys fuck that 0 for 8 shit” really? That’s the big bar that you use to insult them with? And you wonder why you never why jay z is doodoo

    4. How the hell was snoops knock off “reggae” album considered as a contender for top reggae album of the year? That’s just sad. But yeah, I mean, only album from snoop that could have qualified for album of the year was Doggystyle. But you also had A Tribe Called Quest and Wu Tang drop, which were both better as a whole I’d say.

    5. It’s beyond me how you can be a household name, make $150 million, and still be upset you didn’t get some meaningless, political award for your music. Besides, though snoop had 1 single classic out of 20+ albums, he’s never been looked at by nearly anyone as one of the greatest to do it. Hell, Ludacris has more great albums with far superior flows, rhyme schemes, punchlines, and stories than any Snoop album.

    6. I love Snoops music but dude hasnt put out a single album worthy of a grammy. He could maybe have gotten one of one of his singles. But thats like 1 or 2 tops.
