Snoop Dogg Decries Michael Vick Detractors

Snoop Dogg says that people who have a problem with Michael Vick, who served 19 months in federal prison on dogfighting charges, are misguided.

“He did his time,” the West Coast emcee says to Complex. “What y’all gonna do, hold it over his head forever? It’s over with. He’s been punished. He’s been banned from the league. He came back. He’s on the good foot. He ain’t been around dogs. He ain’t do nothing like that.”

Vick was released from a 19-month prison sentence in 2009 after he was convicted for charges stemming from his involvement in a dogfighting ring. He returned to the NFL for the 2009 season and signed with Philadelphia Eagles, with whom he played through the 2013 season. Last year, he played for the New York Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers signed Vick to a one-year deal prior to the 2015 NFL season opener, much to some Pittsburgh fans dismay.

The Steelers starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger injured his MCL Sunday (September 27)) against the St. Louis Rams and is out four to six weeks. This puts Vick in the starting position for the Steelers’ game tomorrow (October 1) against the Baltimore Ravens.

An ardent Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Snoop Dogg also had some words of encouragement for Vick.

“Michael Vick keep on keepin’ on,” he says. “I’m glad you’re in the quarterback position for us now to lead us until Ben comes back, so prove ‘em wrong and go to work and do what you do.”

The founder of the Snoop Youth Football League announced Monday (September 28) that he is creating a reality show based on the youth football program.

    1. I stand behind the Pittsburgh Steelers organization to sign Michael Vick. He is our guy now. He has made amends for his prior bad choices. Paid his debt and continues to make strides to further laws to be passed for stiffer sentences for offenders. He is working with the Human Society and donating time and monies for our four legged family members. I tell people if they want to stop animal cruelty, don’t eat at restaurants that serve them up daily for human consumption. I stand behind the organization’s decision and I am looking forward to a great year of football. Now get out there and let’s win some ball games.

    2. But you know how it is when you a black man making money and then you get into some trouble the media will always remind you of your faults technically he wasn’t fighting the dogs just let him live go Michael Vick aka Ron mexico
