Second Autopsy Rules George Floyd’s Death A Homicide By Asphyxia

The results from George Floyd’s second autopsy are in. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, attorneys for the Floyd family revealed the 46-year-old man died of asphyxia from neck and back compression.

“George died because he needed a breath,” civil rights attorney Ben Crump said during a press conference on Monday afternoon (June 1). “I implore all of us to take a breath for justice, to take a breath for peace, to take a breath for our country and to take a breath for George.”

The independent autopsy was performed by renowned forensic medical examiner Dr. Michael Baden who — along with colleague Dr. Allecia Wilson — found the manner of Floyd’s death to be a homicide.

“[They found] Mr. Floyd’s death was homicide caused by asphyxia caused by neck and back compression that led to a lack of blood flow to the brain,” the report reads in part. “Sustained pressure on the right side of Mr. Floyd’s carotid artery impeded blood flow to the brain, and weight on his back impeded his ability to breathe.

“The independent examiners found that weight on the back, handcuffs and positioning were contributory factors because they impaired the ability of Mr. Floyd’s diaphragm to function. From all the evidence, the doctor said it now appears Mr. Floyd died at the scene.”

The initial autopsy performed by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner Offices stated there was nothing “to support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation.” That autopsy included the effects of being restrained, along with underlying health issues and “potential” intoxicants in Floyd’s system.

There were no other details about intoxicants, and toxicology results are pending. In the original 911 call that prompted officers to confront Floyd, the caller describes the man suspected of paying with counterfeit money as “awfully drunk and he’s not in control of himself.”

Dr. Baden performed autopsies on black 18-year-old Michael Brown who was killed by Ferguson, Missouri police in 2014 as well as Eric Garner who was killed the same year at the hands of a NYPD police officer.

Floyd died on May 25 after fired Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin placed his knee on Floyd’s neck for over nine minutes. He was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter. The other three officers involved remain free. Attorney General Keith Ellison has taken over the case.

Hip Hop hasn’t been silent during this crucial time in history. JAY-Z called Minnesota Governor Walz to help get Floyd’s case into the hands of Attorney General Keith Ellison, Russ raised over $150,000 for Black Lives Matter, The Weeknd donated $500,000 to various BLM causes, Drake donated $100,000 to a bail relief fund and Killer Mike provided a powerful speech addressing Atlanta amid city wide protests.

    1. Ok, so now the cop can be charged with murder and go to trial and hopefully sent down for a very long time. Does that mean now all the rioting, looting etc can stop? Or is this just been used as another excuse to blame on Trump with an election coming up?

ANTIFA are been paid by Democrats and the evidence is out their. This is nothing short of terrorism.

      1. Hey man, this actually had nothing to do with Trump. However, if he were a good politician, he would’ve handled that a LOT differently. So I’m glad he handled it the way he did.

        1. He made a public statement, condemned the officers’ actions, and ordered the FBI to expedite their investigation, as TI would say, expeditiously. What else was he supposed to do? Obama let Ferguson and Baltimore burn for days. Presidents aren’t the almighty.

    2. Im paying attention to every black celeb who hasnt said shit but will make money off this w music and concerts dedicating to this. Beyonce. Kendrick are 2 i notice atm.

I also notice those who call for chaos and arent on front lines person..looking at TI and snoop.

      1. Kendrick hasn’t said shit, and his music has seen an increase from what’s going on. Knowing him, he’s not gonna say anything untill he starts to talk about his new album in rollout interviews.

    3. Now lets hope these cops don’t get acquitted for their actions because they must pay for the injustice they cause

    4. This is just the tip of the iceberg. The other two officers must be charged with being accessories to Murder or Manslaughter. The protest must continue until they are brought into custody.

    5. County examiner now says that it is in fact a homicide, when they first said it wasn’t. Anyone still believe there isn’t institutional racism in law enforcement?

      1. That doesn’t mean there is institutional racism. Means we have bad cops. Just like we have bad politicians. Bad coffee servers. Etc. These celebrities are all for these race riots because their property and livelihoods aren’t at risk.

        1. The county examiner is not a cop. This is the very definition of institutional, where different parties are colluding to hide the truth.

          1. Explain that? Your saying the county examiner isn’t a cop has nothing to do with my statement. What exactly are you saying? If you’re going to keep pushing this is racist because the cop was white when that hasn’t been proven tells me you’re pushing a narrative. I want to know exactly what you mean by institutional. Be concise.

            1. Institutional means more than just cops. Prosecutors, examiners, judges, etc.

      2. While I believe there is institutional racism, your comment isnt necessarily proof of it. The man who did the original autopsy may have been pressured to come up with a certain result to protect the cops, whether the victim was black or not may have been irrelevant. They stick together, doesn’t mean they are racist. Even if the killer is or is not racist and someone defends him, it doesnt mean they are also racist.
