Royce Da 5’9″ and Redman are part of a mutual admiration society — and nowhere is their brotherhood more evident than on their latest track, “Royce & Reggie.”

Taken from Royce’s The Heaven Experience: Lost Sessions EP, the lyrical giants go head-to-head and bar for bar over the DJ Pain 1-produced beat.

Royce Da 5’9″‘s forward-thinking approach to the Metaverse only adds further fuel to his G.O.A.T. status fire. Back in 2021, the former Slaughterhouse MC unearthed a 2016 video of Redman praising his 2016 track, “Flesh,” while riding in his car.

Red says at the beginning of the clip: “Royce 5 fucking 9, n-gga. Listen to this fucking verse.” From there, he lets the song play as he nods his head to the beat.

The feeling proved mutual as Royce Da 5’9″ responded to the praise on Instagram by citing Redman as an inspiration, as well.

“The more you achieve, the more you’ll realize how much sum’n like this means to you… I studied Redman like religion just so I could be reciprocal if I should ever one day have a chance to be,” he wrote. “I needed this to be his reaction to me because this was always my reaction to him.
