Roe Vs. Wade Supreme Court Ruling On Abortion Sparks Outrage — & Action — From Hip Hop Community

Millions of Americans woke up to the news the 1973 Supreme Court ruling Roe Vs. Wade had been overturned. Up until that point, the Constitution of the United States had generally protected a pregnant woman’s liberty to choose to have an abortion. But now, each state has the freedom to ban them and many already have, including Kentucky, Louisiana and South Dakota.

On Friday (June 24), former president Barack Obama was among the many who were heartbroken to learn women’s rights over their own reproductive health were essentially erased. As Obama explained in tweeted, “Today the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans.”

Protests have erupted across the county, with many denouncing the conservative justices Donald Trump put in place before his presidency ended. Of course, social media has also exploded with reactions to the historical ruling. From Alicia Keys, who called it “fucking bullshit,” to Lizzo, who pledged $500,000 to Planned Parenthood, celebrities are using their platforms to speak out and spark action.

Why Is Male Rappers Calling Women 'Bitches' Still A Thing In 2020?

For example, Megan Thee Stallion used her giant platform, which includes 29 million followers on Instagram, to provide a link to both Planned Parenthood Action and Bans Off Our Bodies. She wrote in the caption, “The court has failed us all — but we won’t back down. I’m going to keep fighting because everyone deserves access to the care they need. Join me and @PPact: http://BansOff.org. #bansoffourbodies.”

But that was just the beginning. Public Enemy, CHIKA, Rage Against The Machine, Steve Rifkind and Questlove, among others, also used their social media to voice their opinions. Check them out below.

      1. you gonna raise them? every single homeless person on the street was a baby that wasn’t aborted. go do something about it since you wanted them.

        1. Aren’t most homeless people adults? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a homeless kid in all my years. And guess what? If you have a baby, you are supposed to raise them, or you’re just a shit human being. How are you gonna blame other people for their own parents being losers who don’t love their family enough to be a provider for them?

    1. There isn’t nothing about abortion in the Constitution. Only time you hear about how the important the Constitution is, is when it’s about made up rights like abortion. Not things that explicitly stated like the First, or Second Amendment. “Our democracy is in danger” is a favorite of mine to hear. By “democracy” they mean liberalism. Hate to break it to a lot of people but, we are a Constitutional Republic with elements of democracy. If we had a pure democracy it would be mob rule. Checks and balances are important. The Supreme Court is supposed to read and follow the Constitution. Once again I can see how this is hard to understand when you have every major institution telling you something different.

      1. the 2nd amendment doesn’t say anything about bullets. I guess the govt can outlaw bullets with that logic.

        1. You’re calling people morons while suggesting the 2nd amendment didn’t intended to have American civilians owning firearms with ammunition lol. Your logic is extremely illogical. Fact is, 2a has been around pretty much since the inception of USA. Abortion hasn’t at all, and if people want it to become a right in usa, they need to have a convention of the states and ratify it into the constitution, like we’ve done many times in the past, like anything after the 10th amendment. People like you fail to realize that things that aren’t in the constituon must be added of you want them to become “rights”. I bet you think Healthcare is a basic human right lol.

    2. Genuinely hope that the fight against this is hard and not as long lasting as I’d think, but that’s, of course, too much optimism for a country with old ass politicians hanging on for dear life to their trash morals and ideals even when the people that they apparently want to represent for say no. Even worse is that I’m expecting a bunch of comments to be screaming “hoes” and “condoms” while turning a blind eye to how active genuine rapists still are out here. Sad times for real.

      1. “Ain’t nothin’ new, but a flu of new Demo-Crips and Re-Blood-licans ,Red state versus a blue state, which one you governin’?”

    3. People want others to believe that the Supreme Court banned abortions. Abortion isn’t outlawed. The Supreme Court gave states the power to decide abortion issues. Abortion has nothing to do with the Constitution, and that’s why the Supreme Court gave states the power

      1. for what? its still up to the states. are you dumb? abortion isnt outlawed. THIS. THIS is what im talking about when i say propaganda. NOTHING has changed you dumbasss

        1. it used to be a protected right to individuals. Now it is up to the state govt to decide. That is a gigantic change.

        2. hey do you have a carrot up your ass it just would be nice to hear from the right too as we hear from the left that’s all.

    4. why you know its up to the states individually now? stop pretending like u give a damn. thats the way its been from YEARS. liberal states will STILL have it. more propaganda from the remoron left.

    5. It’s sad you guys couldn’t find a single hip hop artist to say something in favor of human rights for the unborn.

      1. Because they know if they go against the narrative, the checks stop coming. They are manufactured puppets

    6. Rappers and sport stars are nervous lol. Banging these ig models and getting them pregnant just got a little harder. We now live in a ungodly fashion. People see killing a baby as a human right now. That’s how crazy we have become. Women say my body my choice. But that comes with the deathly “R” word.. responsibility. We are just plain terrible at accountability. If we were more responsible abortion wouldn’t be a real big issue. Only in certain circumstances should it be an issue. You want to be free but without responsibility.

    7. And another thing. The supreme court didn’t ban abortion. They gave the powers back to the states. So it’s up to the individual states to decide. Which means they either keep it in place or say otherwise.

    8. The SCOTUS simply said states are allowed to dictate their own laws that supersede the federal level. Nothing was overturned. Also, if there is one community desperately in need of abortions it’s hip hop. How many kids does Weezy or Nic Canon have? Flavor Flave? I think no one complains when it’s marijuana being legalized, right? If you live in TX, fly your ass to the next state that has them and get that aborsh… Or maybe do anal or oral like a good Christian, plan B, condoms, the pill, Jill, pull out, bust between the boobies or the hundreds of other options that don’t include knocking someone up with your dumb ass. I’m all for abortions BTW. I’ve paid for 2 that I know of. Scrambled eggs anyone?

    9. Awful lot of fascist scumbags in the comments. Jerking each other off like this is some great win for you. You don’t realize this is the beginning of your demise. Your day of reckoning is coming, and you will never know peace again.

          1. Oh, I’m shaking in my boots! I’m so scared of the antifa soy boy types we see in LA and Portland hahaha.

          2. Liberals are just about the least intimidating people on earth. The leftist men tend to be very soft and small. I guess it’s good they’re anti gun ownership too. Enjoy the far right supreme court friend =) May you become increasingly upset and let out your frustrations through keyboard warrior comments on a hiphop site lmaoooo. “Laugh now cry later pig” hahahahaa.

    10. Such is the backwards logic of this site full of messy, ignorant, idiotic people with no lives that just want to come to sites like this frequently to troll and spread hate. This country is full of malice and buffoonery.

    11. I am a fragile white male. I am intimidated by women and minorities, so naturally I’m a hateful pos. Have a nice day.

        1. I am an incel. That’s why I hate women and must control them any way I can. Also, I have a tiny dick, so I overcompensate by buying big guns. In fact, I love my guns so much that I’d rather a million school children be murdered than have any gun reform. I hate everyone except unborn babies. Until they’re born that is, then I hate them too. God Bless America!

    12. Da court made da best decision. Dis a win for humanity n children’s rights so dese feminist women who in da minority shud stop catchin feelins n tellin people dey rep da majority. We c thru ya’ll.
