Playboi Carti, Metro Boomin & More Pay Tribute To Rich Homie Quan After His Death

    Playboi Carti and Metro Boomin are among the many Hip Hop superstars who have paid tribute to Rich Homie Quan following his tragic death at the age of 34.

    Quan (real name Dequantes Devontay Lamar) was found dead in his home in Atlanta on Thursday (September 5), his family confirmed, although a cause of death has yet to be revealed.

    Fellow Atlanta native Carti led the tributes to the “Lifestyle” rapper, posting an old video and photo of Quan and his former Rich Gang collaborator Young Thug on social media.

    He also mourned Quan’s death while accepting the Artist of the Year award at Billboard‘s R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players event in New York City on Thursday night, saying: “RIP Rich Homie Quan.”

    Metro Boomin, who worked with Rich Homie on several songs including Travis Scott‘s “Mamacita,” posted various pictures of himself with the late rapper and wrote: “Rich in spirit! You are now immortalized by your classics and your body of work. Praying God blesses your family with divine comfort and healing.”

    2 Chainz added in his own Instagram tribute: “Dam lil brother ,we just spoke about shooting a video [love heart emoji], special prayer for you and your family , and pray for any and everybody that’s dealing with something [prayer emoji] my condolences bru.”

    In a moving post, Quavo unearthed a picture of him with Rich Homie Quan, as well as the late TakeOff, captioning it: ā€œMay God be with US, never saw this being a part of our journey.ā€

    DJ Drama, who hosted Quan’s fan-favorite 2013 mixtape I Promise I Will Never Stop Going In, wrote: “Rich In Spirit. Love You Brodie. Your Legacy Will Live Forever… Rich Home Baaaby.”

    Outside of Atlanta, Public Enemy legend Chuck D posted his own tribute including a drawing of the late rapper alongside the caption: “Rest in Beats, @richhomiequan.”

    Fellow New Yorker Lloyd Banks also said of Quan: “Rest in peace Rich Homie QuanĀ appreciate what you’ve contributed to the culture, condolences to his family & friends.”

    Jacquees, another of Rich Homie’s frequent collaborators, wrote on social media: “Rest in Peace my brother Rich Homie Quan. I love you for Life. #Richgang.”

    Fellow R&B star Tank also credited Rich Homie for changing his outlook on music, saying: “The session, the song, and the man who changed how i made music from that day forward! I thank you bro for your impact and the love we always exchanged on site! Rest easy soldier..”

    Rich Homie’s hometown NBA team, the Atlanta Hawks, also posted a tribute on social media that read: “Rest in power, Rich Homie Quan. A beloved member of our community and a powerful presence in Atlanta’s music world.”

    Further tributes poured in from Killer Mike, Jermaine Dupri, GloRilla, Big Boi, 9th Wonder and Young Guru.
