Rap Release Dates: Bow Wow, Machine Gun Kelly, Chris Brown, Madlib

It’s looking like EP’s are the new mixtapes right about now. Last week, Tech N9ne dropped off a short but sweet Klusterfuck EP. This week, Machine Gun Kelly brings the Half Naked and Almost Famous EP. As the bad boy of Bad Boy gears for an album, a retail EP is his gift to fans in the meantime. He shares today’s date with Diggy Simmons’ debut Unexpected, Odd Future’s OF Tape Vol. 2, and Hiero’s Pep Love with Rigmarole. Next week brings a few cool releases, and while EP’s are that new swag, we’re getting some multi-releases and box sets happening too. E-40 is dropping his Block Brochure: Welcome to the Soul as a 3-part deal with Volumes 1, 2, and 3 all coming at us at once on March 26th. The next day, Madlib drops a “brick” down. His Medicine Show releases come as one limited edition box set with 1-13 titled The Brick. Mayday!’s Take Me To Your Leader and DJ Premier / Bumpy Knuckles’ The Kolexion are keeping it company, among others.

Bow Wow’s Underrated was scheduled to drop on March 13th. While Amazon has it just for pre-order now with no real release date, trustworthy Wikipedia says it’s coming April 10th instead. Here’s to hoping. Amazon also slid in that Chris Brown’s Fortune is coming May 8th. A week before we’re seeing Juvenile’s Rejuvenation getting a May 1st date.

On the R&B front, we see Melanie Fiona’s The MF Life coming March 27th, with Macy Gray’s Covered album a day before on March 26th. Monica’s New Life starts on April 10th, and now we’re seeing that Ashanti’s Braveheart has an April 24th date. We could include Chris Brown in the R&B pile, but at the rate that he’s rapping, who knows what category he falls under now. Looks like the Spring will provide lots of music to bump.
